a new free browser based game is in the final stages of its beta test and looking to go live in the first part of October. there is a 2-3 day wait after registering to join unless you are referred. if anyone would like a referral to eRepublik and avoid the wait and be part of this beta test chat mail me with your email address and i will send the invite.

sorry i guess i should tell a little about the game. it is like real life in that you get a job and work for a company earn money to buy houses and food. there are political parties and elections. you can create buy and sell companies. and when the live version comes out raw materials as well. there are newspapers and a currency exchange. way too much that after a month i only have a small grasp of all of it.

So uhh... In comparison to real life, how fast does time in the game pass? How quickly can you set up your own business? How long does it take for you to earn a steady income and buy (or build) a house?

honestly it really depends. i have played for about 3 weeks and the hardest part for me was getting a good paying job off the bat and then there is a weekly paycheck for joining to military(which is not nearly as organized as one would think). so i didn't do what i was supposed to get paid for that. skills increase quickly at first and there is the money market which someone smarter or more ambitious could make a ton of money on in no time.

long story short... it takes about 2 months to get enough to put a business together less with investors. a house about a month. there is a ton to the game though and a lot of it has to do with social interaction and networking amongst other players.

but then again this is a beta and the live version is set for first half of October so things could change. but there has been confirmation that there will NOT be a wipe when it does go live.

Is it pay to play? Do people who participate in the beta get some sort of bonus when the game goes live? =P

completely free no ads either. they sell currency for real money and that is how they pay for bandwidth. beta testers keep everything they have accumulated even after launch plus expanded inventory space. but it is capped so those who started the beta day one are not going to have too large of a headstart.
