MPR limits for clans (in General)

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] September 27 2008 12:19 AM EDT

What is the purpose of the MPR limits for clans?
We already have penalties to score for being over the limit, why are long time clans penalized compared to upstarts?

We just lost a good player from our clan because he bought a character, we have no choice but to fill the fifth slot with an NCB or NUB. We've lost many other great players from out clan because of this.
I've been unable to join because my NCB was just a little too big after a bug prevented me from joining early on.

Revise the system, or simply remove the MPR cap.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] September 27 2008 12:22 AM EDT

I vote revise the system not remove the mpr cap.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] September 27 2008 12:31 AM EDT

i don't know, it is kinda nice now that we don't have several top players in the same clan, especially ones who could only really be beaten by clan mates. it is also nice to see some movement in the top clans on a regular basis.

whatever happens, i would like some mechanism that keeps the top players from all banding together.

Windwalker September 27 2008 12:34 AM EDT

BR II has the same problem. This could use a revision. With you on this one.

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] September 27 2008 12:35 AM EDT

Not that I'm the most active manager or particularly attendant to the numbers, but yes ... it always sucks that clans with stable membership never have room for anything other than a N*B.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] September 27 2008 12:38 AM EDT

honestly though ncb's can be very very effective in clans.

Ancient Anubis September 27 2008 12:39 AM EDT

i find the mpr limit is now invalid in use for limiting clans and a member limit would suffice much better.

It is unfair that long established clans that through losing members shrinks and then finds it much harder to compete with newer clans with 6,7,8 or even more character members.

Yes older clans have more established players and in some cases greater scores but not all top clan scorers are high mpr end players.

And if a nub clan comes up with 8 members and stays with us long after their nubs then that will lead to a definant unfair advantage and don't say it won't happen we never thought a nub would get the highest mpr then along come la, and solare another nub looks to end up in the top 5 mprs or so.

I reckon a 6 member limit would provide a balanced even clan system

Solare September 27 2008 12:41 AM EDT

NUB's and NCB's if active can bring high scores to clans, being that most people won't fight them, AND they belong to 9-10/10 allowing them to fight more opponents.

I like the idea of not having the top players band together.

However, I do think it's wrong if someone bought a character and cannot have that character join the clan they already belong to (and any similar situation). I do think it probably needs some revision.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] September 27 2008 12:44 AM EDT

AA thats a terrible idea. Lets just get the top 6 players and put them in a clan? where is the competition in that?

Ancient Anubis September 27 2008 12:49 AM EDT

no offense i find this argument weak is bout the only word i can think of. Firstly most top characters have already decided on their clan they wish to be in and i don't believe many will change loyalties as a result. This is more to allow those with scores to high that aren't in a clan to join one and to allow members who are alrteady in a clan the ability to move characters in and out of it depending on whether they buy another.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] September 27 2008 12:58 AM EDT

okayy AA has convinced me.. I"m changing sides.

Ancient Anubis September 27 2008 1:03 AM EDT

yahhooo :P

It's not about whether N*Bs are useful or boils on the GW of humanity. The greater point: anybody who wants JW has to catch him when he's starting over instead of just sweet-talking him in regardless of timing.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] September 27 2008 9:30 AM EDT

Talking with another long time clan owner and the owner of our clan I think there is a nearly universal desire for change on this...

I think even people who hate clans might get behind this simply because it could end up limiting the number of people in a clan.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] September 27 2008 9:36 AM EDT

"I think there is a nearly universal desire for change on this... "

poll, poll, poll!

hzarb September 27 2008 9:46 AM EDT

Not much to add except confirm my view that the clan PR limit concept would do with a rethink..

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] September 27 2008 11:11 PM EDT

I think it would be cool for a remake of the clan system MPR limit.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] September 28 2008 12:02 PM EDT

bump in lieu of the current poll

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] September 28 2008 2:07 PM EDT

I think the score problem should be higher up in the totem pole of problems than this.

Remove the MPR limit on Clans.

Also remove the XP bonus. >;)

Having the Top 5 players be able to be in a single Clan is silly, and 'bonus' breaking.

Let Clans give something else. There's still the CP side of 'who's got the best Clan' competition anyway.

Besides, if you're only in a Clan for the XP bonus, maybe you're in the Clan for the wrong reason...

Brakke Bres [Ow man] September 29 2008 9:05 AM EDT

most ncb's just start a clan for the EXP bonus so, no the MPR limit is there for a reason. I hated the fact that Battle Royal in its prime was always number one because of unfarmable characters that were in it.

Now that period is over I see more differentness in the top 5 and even top 10. How it should be anyway.
And if the only reason to remove this limit is because people can't bring in bigger characters they bought, then I don't find that argument very persuading. It's not like they needed to buy a bigger character no that is choice. He knew buying a bigger character could possible result into hitting the MPR limit. No this is just right.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] September 29 2008 10:24 AM EDT

henk i agree with your sentiment, but what i don't understand is that the system we currently have did allow what you disagree with. the system hasn't changed. how exactly does the current system now prevent it from recurring?

Cube September 29 2008 12:40 PM EDT

I agree with henk. dudemus while it didn't stop them from all being in one clan it made it difficult for that to happen. It's not perfect of course, but that's no reason to make it worse.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] September 29 2008 5:51 PM EDT

I'm all for removing the bonus if that would allow memberships in clans to be stable.

Sutekh's long running argument about clans being a must have would then be nullified...

Cube September 29 2008 9:19 PM EDT

I would actually prefer a change in the bonus such that it's not effective to have a single clan. The way bonuses are scaled now once you get to 100 clan points you have at least 8%... which is over half the top bonus. There's no real competition.
