buying minions (in General)

lostling October 10 2008 12:24 AM EDT

from this tourny... i realised it isnt such a hard thing to do at all.... just cut down alittle on your spending and you would still have a healthy portion of money to buy all 3 minions by the end of your NUB lol.... as for NCBs.... you can probably buy 1 without much difficulty lol

my tourny minion cost is like 985k per minion... and i have like 4.3mil go figure lol

kinda dont see why everyone keeps complaining about not having enough money to buy minions

Mostly its down to the fact that NCB chars also have to spend out the nose to buy BA to get anywhere to be able to buy Minions.

Yeah, the key is how much it costs to purchase BA on an NCB along with the lack of a bonus to your cash rewards. If the NCB worked like the NUB in that respect people would have no problem going single minion the whole way and then buying 3 minions with all that cash.

It will cost me 72 million to buy my next minion. It cost me 72 for my last one. After 3 mil MPR you can't just 'buy' minions. Sure at lower levels it seems rather easy, and yes if you have two or more minions you can choose the smaller amount. But it would be wasted, being that you could have purchased a minion with more set exp. My lower price for a minion is ~28 million, which is still quite a price. At the end of my NUB, if I hadn't have spent a dime, I would likely have had ~55 million. And, near the end of my NUB the price for a new minion grew exponentially faster than my increase in cash per battle.
These sorts of prices are why people complain about buying minions.
If you're going for a 4-man strategy, you're better off buying minions in the 2 mil MPR range. Anyone higher than 3 mil MPR has a good reason to complain about prices, however. They are outrageous at higher levels.

so the cost exponentially increases? because from what i've seen.... i kept getting more money to spend on other stuff

Solare October 10 2008 1:02 AM EDT

It's how it seems at least. The rate of the minion price increase was always lower than the amount of money I made from each battle until I hit around 3 million MPR. Then it became ridiculously steep.

I'm still hoping to see a "free" minion recruit cost.

Cube October 10 2008 1:06 AM EDT

The rate between money/xp is different for an NCB because of the XP bonus and no money bonus.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] October 10 2008 2:52 AM EDT

Borgin your insane lol nice. But yeah I"m running an NCB right now, and the BA costs are taking up just about all my funds. You are right though for a nub it should be super easy to hire/recruit new minions.

Sickone October 10 2008 3:06 AM EDT

Tourney chars get 400% to both XP and CB$.
NUB get high % XP and a lower (hidden) % CB$ bonus (allegedly, around +100% only) and free daily BA.
NCB gets only a % XP bonus, no free BA, and insane BA costs.

With MPR increasing almost linearly, XP increases exponentially (^1.25), and so does minion recruitment cost.

Cube October 10 2008 3:17 AM EDT

Also, the new RoE basically made buying minions later on pretty pointless.

Sickone October 10 2008 3:44 AM EDT

Three minions purchased at the expensive version are still around +25.6% MPR, which is nothing to sneeze at.
Heck, it might be cheaper to not buy BA at all on the NCB then use the money you didn't spend in order to buy the minions. Not sure, haven't calculated, but seems pretty close at a cursory glimpse.
Obviously, if money is not an issue, then buying all BA and then hiring minions at the end would be the best result MPR-wise.

But yeah, if the final MPR is of no major concern to you and you want to use as little CB$ as possible, starting as 4-minion team and keeping the "new" RoE on one of them is the cheapest variant.

Cube October 10 2008 5:54 AM EDT

I'm pretty sure the cheapest MPR comes from buying BA.

lostling October 10 2008 6:01 AM EDT

buying a minion might be better :) compare how much exp you get per fight and the amount it cost to buy a minion and the amount of exp on it

Cube October 10 2008 6:17 AM EDT

My mistake, buying a minion came out cheaper than buying BA.

About 1000 xp per fight
6000 per BA
750 money rewards
1000/5250 = .19

The largest minion gives xp of 1/3 I think, so .33.

Buying the small minion then comes out to about the same as BA for my challenge bonus.
If you have 100% challenge bonus still though buying BA may be about the same as the largest minion.

Sickone October 10 2008 6:26 AM EDT

On my single-minion main, I have 10634740 trained levels (all XP trained), so that's 127,616,880 XP (plus 7 untrained).

If I remember correctly, the "expensive" version is 1/9 XP, so that would be 14,179,654 XP.
The expensive version costs $42,538,672 which would mean almost exactly $3 per point of XP.

My non-bonused fights earn me at most 500 XP and at least 200, probably around 300 on average. Cash, it's between 350 and 750, so let's say 550 on average. My BA purchase cost is $1,035.
So, ok, granted, for my unbonused character, overall it would cost on average $600 for 300 XP, so only $2 per XP. For unbonused chars, it's cheaper to buy BA.

But if I was a NCB, and I would have a +300% NCB, that would be 1200 XP for $4140-$550, or almost exactly $3 per XP. That's pretty much the break-even point.
If my NCB would be +400%, it would be 1500 XP for $5175-$550, or $3.08 per XP... and so on and so forth, the higher the NCB XP-only bonus, the better hiring at the end becomes compared to buying BA all the time.

Granted, if you ONLY use your BA during "crazy XP time", for those two out of 7 days, on a +300% NCB it's more like $1.9 per XP... but the other 5 days, it's the same $3. On average, about $2.7, still cheaper... but for the 400% NCB, it gets closer to breakeven even like that (use all possible in bonus time XP).

Oh well...
