The "say something nice" contest (in Contests)

Yup, that's all there is to it. Basically, I'm sick of the bubbling negativity that seems to streak the forums/chat every now and then.

Post something nice (and true, and preferably not related to CB) about another user and get 10K.

1..2..3..Go.

[Borgin]Goodfish is a good person. He's trying to alleviate the negativity surrounding the atmosphere in CB. If he's like this in CB, he must also be kind in person.

I have a couple things I'd like to say.

Good friends are hard to find nowadays. Great friends, harder still. I consider a great friend to be someone who will toss everything aside to give you a shoulder to cry on, or a bed to sleep in. I consider a great friend the person that will travel 100 miles to get your broken-down-car butt when no one else will (even though they were able) because they're too busy. I consider a great friend to be the person that gives their all to the relationship not expecting anything in return.

Firstly, I would like to say a thank you to the users of CB chat. Whenever I'm feeling a little bored/angry/tired/sad whatever, I know that the users of CB chat are (almost) always there to cheer me up. That's a great thing to know. That no matter my mood, people I've never actually met are willing to set their moods aside to help me with mine. I find that fascinating.

Gun, you're always there to make me laugh. You've always been there for me, even when I'm being a spazz ;p Plus, you've always been there for every strat question I've thrown at you! (which was a ton, lol)

Wolfie, you put up a wall around you and act tough sometimes, but I think you have a sweet and kind heart.

th00p, always you have been there for me. To listen to my rants, and to cheer me up.

Loch, I know that anytime you're online, I should not drink anything. I don't really care for laughing only to choke to death ;p

TheHatchetman, you're always there. Lurking and in my PMs, and seemingly always with the right (and of course amusing) thing to say.

SNK, you're one of the few people that I can talk to about personal stuff and know that I'm not being judged. You know some things about me that no one else does, and I can count on you to always be there for me.

lostling, I've not really known you that long, but I really enjoy your company in chat. You and your brother always have something interesting to say, and are pretty good at making me smile.

JS, again, you're one of the ones always making sure I'm laughing. You say some of -the- most random (yet still funny) things, and I never know what to expect. Please keep it up ^_~

Borgin, I haven't really known you and your brother Tetra for all that long, but I can tell you both have good hearts. You seem like friends I'd like to have.

Nightstrike. You put up with a lot of whining from me, and yet somehow you turn that whining into a good thing, lol. You're always there listening when I have questions or a new idea, and I thank you for that!

Rave. I know we have our difficulties, but I know you mean well. Like I said before. You're like the little brother that drives me insane, but is still my family nonetheless ;p

AG, we too have our differences. But everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and I know that you're a nice person. I do enjoy talking to you when we're not bickering ;p

I know there's people I've forgotten. I apologize. I have a lot going on right now and I cannot afford to spend much more time on this post. For all those unlisted, please don't take offense. I <3 all my chat members. I just thought I should single some of the ones I know the best out ^_^


Having said that, I'd like to thank someone in particular on a more personal level. I would like to thank OB. I consider him to be one of my closest friends here on CB. I've known him for years (and yet he still talks to me? Amazing! ;p) and it's become clear to me that he is one of the most generous people I've ever encountered. I mean, I've never met him in person, and yet I consider him one of my best friends. He's constantly there, listening to me whine/rant on the phone and he always seems to know the perfect thing to say when I'm upset. I'd be willing to bet that he'd be one of the 5 people that I could honestly count on to be there for me if I truly needed them. And he's never even met me. That to me is incredible. I am lucky to know someone like that.


I would love to say more about the members of CB, but I must go. Thanks for all you've all done!!

I have omitted a lot of people - not because they are not praiseworthy, but simply because most of my experiences were gathered in 2006, when I was much more involved in CB. I am happy to say that when I came back earlier this year, I found the community still strong - one of the best places to hang out on the internet.

Glad to see this contest is picking up. Negator, ColonelCustard, and Hakai, thanks for the long posts. You've all been given your money according to how many people you've acknowledged. :)

Well, I want to start with lostling because he has always been there for me, literally since the day I began CB. I complained to him about Gun being... well gun and we all know how he is. And he is a big reason why I still play.

Next on the list is Godwolf (or whatever he goes by now) He has always been a friend to me. The other day I cried for an hour and he talked with me and helped me feel better about myself. Thanks man, I know you read all these.

After that is Lamuness in all his/her strangeness, keeping CB chat alive and real. Keep it up, yo.

And this next one is strange, but Gun is nice (since he got off the jack >.>) And actually says compliments and isn't a complete erm.... meanie in chat anymore. So here's to you man. =)

Jonathon for well... creating the game though I've never talked to him and only seen one maybe two lines out of him.... -sigh-

So, I've been considering making an effort at this, and I think I've put it off long enough. Please keep in mind that I'm writing this at about 3:30 AM, and my memory about chatrooms ain't too good, so if I forget you don't take it personally. If I say hardly anything at all, and almost nothing on a personal level, please note that I made the attempt and there is much more to be said, but my memory just won't allow it. That being said, here it goes:

Hacky pie, you're really nice and sweet and everything and you kind of act like my mommy, except you never beat me.

Losters, you are really cool. You kind of remind me of my buddy Spooner (yes, that is indeed a nickname), but that's not why I like you. It's nice to be able to talk to a buddy in chat. =)

Slayer, you've been nice all the time and always made me feel welcome (even though I've played longer than you xD). You have always brought lurking to a whole new level, and I mean that as a compliment. =P

Titan, I remember when you first started playing, which happened to be almost exactly the same time I returned, you came into chat bragging about how awesome you were. I don't really like cocky people, but after I got to know you I realized there was more to you than meets the eye. You've been a good friend.

Destrinator, we first stared talking and it was nice being able to relate to you and talk to you man to man. Even though you insult me in chat to look cool for the ladies, I know that deep down you really don't mean it. =)

Gunny bunny, even though you throw insult after insult at me, I know you love me. Recently you have become less negative and I have come to enjoy your company a bit more than usual.

Badfish, you make me laugh. You come up with some awesome things to say in CGen and in chat, and you just crack me up.

Borgiefish (AKA: Borgin or Goodfish), even though we may have different opinions on matters which we have absolutely no control over, I know you're a great and friendly guy who ranks up there with the best. =)

novice, you are a stern OP, and I respect you. You are a great, friendly and patient guy and I do enjoy your company.

Birdman (AKA: OddBird), you've always made me feel welcome and I've come to view you as a good friend. You have always treated me with respect, or at least to the best of my knowledge, and you are a great man.

Lochnivar, even though I can't call you Lochness, you make me laugh all the time and you are a cool guy to hang out with in chat. You always have a way of livening things up.

Godwolf, even though it seems like you try to convince yourself that I should be hated, I know that there is still good in you. The Emperor has not driven it from you fully. So even though you want to criticize every comment I make, I know that it's all too possible that behind that computer screen there might just be a smirk on your face when I'm being a spaz.

Slim (AKA: NightStrike), you are an awesome guy. You respect everybody and treat everyone with respect, and it's great being able to talk to you in chat.

Shortie (AKA: mesoshort), even though I haven't known you long, it's great having you in chat. You make chat even more exciting and I certainly enjoy your company.

Plagues, you are a great guy and you are cool to talk to. I like being able to talk to someone I can relate to, and you make me feel welcome.

Mario (AKA: ColonelCustard), you are funny and you always seem to make a considerable amount of sense. I think you have a great head on your shoulders, and you're a fun guy to hang out in chat with.

SNK3R, even though I may have been your punching bag and you say you hate me and I have retarded logic and I'm an idiot, I know you don't really mean that. You seem like a decent guy to hang out with as long as you aren't spitting insults at me. =P

th00pers, you are a good guy and you make me laugh. It's a shame that CB has tamed that spaz in you. I know we could have made a great team =P

No matter how you look at it, the people you meet on here will never be able to replace friends you know in real...

You're all good guys and girls(generally speaking), I enjoy chatting with you all, but mostly it all goes by me and I never seem to grasp the core of the matter.

So, something nice not really about about CB...

I'm glad to have that 1 friend I know will not let me down in my darkest hour.

I'm thankful for my mother. My relationship with her borderlines the (in)famous Oedipous complex. Anybody who remotely speaks ill of her(even if it is a joke) is dead for me. She's nothing short of an angel.

My (younger) brother, the thorn in my sight, nevertheless irreplaceable. I guess like everybody's brother...always bottersome, but when it comes down to it, he'll back me up.

Don't be surprised, but I'm thankful to have such great coworkers. Without some of them, I wouldn't have stayed there for more than 1 month, let alone (geesh, time really does fly by...) 3!! entire years.

I guess this can't be closed without a word or 2 about the cb community.

CB community...actually the sole reason why I came back last time.

Killik(or however his nick was), my mentor...THE first person I send a PM to and chatted with in private and much more than just this.

PitSpawn...one of the very few who actually indulged my freakishness without prejudice. I think maybe the only person who trusted me with op-powers.

J'bob...that prick...made me forge his weapon and not even 3 months after it leaves this game. The last person to actually give away his wealth since...(is there anybody who can remember the last time someone did that?).

Hatchetman...thank you for the biggest job ever in cb2 history. Unless someone knows about a bigger job than the VB job...

Draco- we've had some good talks at 2 or 3 in the morning when no one else was on. haha.

Slayer- Back in the day you were a great mentor, we have not really talked one on one in awhile though.

He was an awesome guy, I especially remember him coming in to chat and <i>pretending</i> to be drunk at around 6pm. Quite funny actually. And even though he did /ignore me for not making him my facebook friend, he was still a great guy. It's a shame he's leaving, as much as we pretended to dislike each other sometimes it was always fun having him around.<p>

novice is also a great guy, his epic 'disagreements' with Ranger will be greatly missed, and novice is one of the few people that actually like me! =P. I <3 Ranger too, now that I think about it! He was always fun if not particularly funny, and I don't think anyone can forget how dominant he was with TAB, and I'm sure he still would be if he hadn't sold him.

Barzoo! Can't believe I forgot him. I think his contests were one of the reasons I stuck around in the beginning, and I desperately miss them! I tried my best to replicate them but all I ended up doing was giving away a lot of money, which isn't bad, but he had a way of doing it that made everyone involved happy whether they won or not.

This may not be nice, but it certainly isn't negative.
And it relates to everyone. Though you don't need to follow it.

I have this belief that things are never what they seem, they are only what you believe they are. That is, if you think you're happy you are, and if you think something say... A comment, was nice, then it was.

So my nice comment to each and every person, is you are a person, nothing more nothing less. No one is better than any other.

You are all perfect, or... At least as perfect as anyone can be, if you believe you are.
