Okay so here is the scoop:
A week or so ago, my mother's boyfriend installed some software. I don't know what it was, I wasn't here. BUT now even though I am a computer administrator, I cannot install ANYTHING. Software, updates, CD programs.
What did he do to my baby?!?!

Wrong forum... great.

Moved the thread. Considered moving it to the 'Admins Only' forum, but picked 'Off Topic' instead ;)

Short answer: you're screwed, reinstall

Long answer: you're not the one anymore. Probably got joke demoted.

Okay, thats all good and well, and there is no way to fix without format?

Second, just ran in safe mode with networking as another friend advised, and when I tried to install something under Administrator account, it still denied me because "Computer Administrator has denied access to this program" ... -sighs-

Your admin privileges have been stripped.Obscurans seems to have called it.

Obscurans October 18 2008 1:59 PM EDT

Heavy registry screwup or, I'll bet 5:1 yours not actually an administrator account anymore (see for yourself).

That's why there is only ONE administrator; two just means one's waiting to be backstabbed. Throttle the guy and recover his password, that'll save you the reformat trouble. And preemptively push everyone else down to user.

Okay, remember, I don't know HOW to do these things, so could you help me, step by step?

Easy way:
  1. Go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts
That should tell you what your account type is. If you're not allowed to see, then yes, your access privileges have been limited.
