This tournament will end on the 10th, it has already begun (/facepalm)

Rules:
You may not use Decay

You may use lesser tattoos

You may not buy items via auctions from any player participating in the tournament, including yourself.

You may not sell items to the store with your non-tournament character, in order to buy them or transfer them to another tournament character.

You may not retire your tournament character unless you plan on creating a new tournament character, or quitting the tournament. Please chatmail Slayer333 if you retire your tournament character early.

You must use at least 1/2 of the BA cap to be eligible for a prize in any tournament.

You may not intentionally "gimp" a character so that it is beatable by tournament characters.

You must have two minions, one of them must exclusively train EC

Whats the cap?

the BA cap should be at 2500 now, I retired everyones characters because I altered the bonus and BA cap, I'll add an extra day to the tournament as well, I thought I had this set to begin next week :x

weak... retiring is kinda mean spirited in a t where you have to fight only other tourney chars... hopefully he'll be the last...

I'd like to see the next tourney restrict attacking other tourney chars entirely...

i agree, i wish there was some way that slayer could keep the retired characters alive for fodder at least, since we really don't get all that many participants. transfer them and keep them alive!

usually this means that after midnight on the fifth, server time, you can only attack other tourney characters.

you are correct, i read it as they have been in the past which has been after a certain date. i would play it safe and just fight t characters. in the future, setting noon server time on a certain date would alleviate this issue.

Its not fair, why dont you think were normally not allowed to use tats? Not everyone can get them. Plus it drives the price up. Just think of the nubs that could not get a tat because people like me entered this tourney 8 times and bought 8 lesser's. I think slayer should of got a set of base tats and passed them out as people created charactors and that would be the tat your stuck with no upgrading.

i had a dream...

back when jon originally asked for ideas on tournaments, i believe i posted most of what follows, but there may be some revisions now that i have played many of them.

for tournaments to truly be fair and fun for all, i think slayer needs to have a tournament creation page with check boxes or drop downs for all of the variables including equipment. so for this current tournament, he would choose number of minions ~ 2. limits on skills, spells & ability. minion 1 can "only" train "ec" minion 2 can train "any."

each t member will spawn with ~ lesser tat of choice. (in this section it would have checkboxes for all items in game. if it would be too hard for jon to program the tat of choice, then tournaments would just have to be more specific where we all have the same tat to work with.

participants would basically spawn with the items needed for the tournamnet, and no other transactions would be allowed for tournament characters other than through the blacksmith. no auctions and no store purchases.

we could change minion order, but if chosen by the tournament master, then we would only be able to train certain skills, spells or abilities and this would be set on a per minion basis.

i wish this would have been implemented from the start. i know that now it would likely be a lot of work for the amount of participation in tourneys, but i do think with fairer, easier to implement and monitor tournaments we would have more participation.

^there would also be options for duration, bonus amount, both xp and monetary, as well as starting ba, ba cap, etc.

you are correct, pm him and make sure he knows the rules and if he doesn't stop then pm slayer. that is how most of us usually handle these things.

I think it would attract more if it was like a separate "Realm" so it was only tournament characters with Dudemus' idea for setting it up. that would be kinda cool, I dunno, just thought like adding my 2 cents

I'd love to have what you described, and I've asked for things along those lines, but that takes a lot of work and Jon has other things in mind for CB as well :)

i would think that with the mistakes getting this thing rolling, or heck even without those, that slayer would be fairly forgiving...i know i am. i guess we await word from him though.

Because people have already retired because of rule infractions, I'll enforce the no non-tourney characters rule, I don't think we will use this one in the future though.

If you have fought a non-tournament character, please retire and feel free to begin a new character.

perhaps we should rename this one the attrition tourney! it would be quite difficult to start over at this point with the tourney character only rule in place. i hope the character you created can be attacked slayer.

Serialkiller's character used Decay against me for a time. If my character is being retired for such a minor reason, I think its only fair to disqualify him as well, even if he only used it for a few matches before I told him to stop.

huh, I fought against you with decay for 2 fights because I thought the rule said that decay can be used, and you fight against non-tournament characters for 100+ fights. I don't really think it's fair to make me retire my character.

Yeah it is, the rules about when you could no longer fight non-tourny chars wasn't really clear to begin with, "after November 5th" means after midnight, so I really didn't take it into account to think it meant EST or 'server time.' It was an easy mistake to make, and its not like it had a huge impact on my performance. And once I got a message saying I shouldn't be fighting them, I stopped.
So something as insignificant as fighting against me 3 times with Decay, should also cause you to be disqualified. Bull crap? I agree; but, if they're going to take the rules to the extreme for me, why shouldn't they for you as well?
It's simply not fair.
And why is novice's character still up and running? I thought he forgot to change his fight-list? Shouldn't his character be DQ'd as well?

As dudemus says, this matter will be up to slayer to decide. Though I hope that decision is a fair one.

fair is a relative term, there is a precedent from other tournaments that if someone makes a simple mistake, it does not go on for long and they stop when asked, that it is not a reason to disqualify that character. so fair in the historical sense with tournaments might not be fair in your eyes for this tournament. i am glad it is not me deciding, especially since i can greatly benefit by the decision made.

I agree, but if this is true, then I shouldn't have been disqualified in the first place. I think the same precedent should hold for everyone. And you seem to agree with me here, so there is nothing to argue about.

You're arguing against yourself, because thats not the point I'm making. I was replying to dudemus's statement that 'if the person stops when asked' which I did. I hadn't even realized I had made a mistake in the first place. It's not just that I was disqualified going by that 'precedent'; however, if the rules are to be so strictly enforced, then any minor infringement should thusly be handled in the same manner. THAT is the argument I'm making. Don't compare the number of battles; that is irrelevant to what I'm saying.

It's up to Slayer to decide.
