Strategy: Counter to Decay + SG? (in General)

OK, help me work through this. What have I missed, what's the counter to facing a Decay minion in front of a SG minion?

AoI is out, as is a High AC Wall.

An anti Mage EH/MGS wall gets hit by the Decay (which isn't reduced by the EH/MGS is it?) first, then the SG comes in an mops up what's left.


Then you stick NSC on both mages, and maybe even train Decay above base.

All decay is there for is to reduce massive HP/AS minions down so SG can then one hit kill them.

What's the foil? RBF? But that too doesn't reduce Decay damage does it?

use a bigger decay + SG, of course. That is the answer to everything

Ok, I've been using an EF and decay for a while now; it's good, but amf and noldorins battling it out aside, the real counter is the same as it was for CoC/Decay which I also used to use on a regular basis: being hit before SG/Decay gets a chance to fire. So big Hals (and not so big hals) take me apart. Because I'm using AS big DM chars with heavy ranged attacks take me apart. A mageseeker can cause me problems and so can MM.

Placement of the minions doesn't really make much difference to the above. It works really well regardless, but those things can take it on.

Sorry mate, while it's good it's not the perfect strat circa November 2008!!

So as long as you can live through the Ranged, you're golden.

(and you should try Decay before your SG Johnny! :P)

3 counters to this setup.
a)hope to outrun them with AMF via XP concentration
b) get a crapload of HP/AS with GA
c) find a way to kill them in ranged

Decay's never great.. either your minion gets GA ed to death or AMF ed to death.

Nope not even GA does much, The only thing I had problem with when running this strat was Sfbm, magic missile and archer teams.

nope. SFBM doesn't beat johnny. I tried and I am one of the biggest SFBM right now. Too much HP to eat through. I guess someone with DM can have a go.

upfront placed RoBF 20 hp minion with loads of AMF backed by a PL wall with millions of HP and of course the TSA. That would stop decay and SG quite nicely. And of course mageseeker.
