Why does it seem that every word "The Simpsons" pioneered becomes a legitimate English word? The same thing happened with "D'oh" a few years back...

Language is defined by usage, and usage is defined by popularity.
So since The Simpsons = Popular show, at least back in it's earlier days; it becomes a source of words by popularizing them.
I'm probably stating the obvious, but well you asked.
