Vampiric Aura confusion (in General)

I have a 4-minion team. My DD minion does around 3000 Damage max so

I trained Vampiric Aura to 3000 so I could get the maximum effect

from it, but I'm not draining 40% of the damage I deal! Its about

20% that I drain... I need to know how to use this ability

correctly, so please help me out!

vamp aura only works on melee weapons.... doesnt work on DD spells or ranged weapons

You did say DD minion in your original post, so Lost can be forgiven his response I think.

VA at lower levels doesn't do it's full potential, and if you're not hitting your max damage all the time you won't get the max result from your VA anyway. Only when you hit for the equivalent to your max damage.

Actually, when you do smaller hits, VA should have a greater effect percentagewise.

VA doesn't always hit for the maximum percentage. Training VA to your largest blow will only mean that you can possibly drain for the maximum, not that it will happen consistently

VA Should be trained to just above your average hit. How often do you hit your max blow? Hardly. So why train VA that high?
