He's been logging in and posting on the forums for a while, now. xD

I think he's been fighting a bit, too. I hope he starts an NCB (or maybe I hope he doesn't, since it'll likely be another person farming me).

Why is he the greatest player?

Ranger, imo:

Ranger is one of the greatest players for a variety of reasons.

First, he dominated in this game in a way which, as I read, was never supposed to be possible. Ranger got to the top, something which many have done. But he stayed there. For years. Something none others have yet to accomplish.

Periods of time in CB existed where no one could beat Ranger. And not just a day or two. But weeks. He holds the CB2 record for longest winning streak ever (over 15000). No. I didn't add an extra zero. The scary part was he achieved that multiple times.

He used an IF when they were regarded as awful, Haste, Heavy Ac tanks, RoBF, multiple tanks, MsK. He used it, and in his hands, things became unbeatable. He for almost his entire CB2 career was the in the top 5 CP earners (yearly, monthly, weekly, pick your poison)

In strategy, there was no one better. In execution, no one was better.

But that was only -one- part of what made him great.

A QB and a chat op. He spent much time and effort with this community. Always generous with his wealth and advice. Spend huge amounts of time on the forums, contributing his knowledge to strategy threads, changelog threads and game threads.

His passion and time put into this game were a testament to the greatness that is CB. And while some may say that his leaving would taint the things he did, I say that he only did what he thought was best for this game, the same as any of us, and whatever your personal opinions on what he said were, none can deny that he gave much to us.

He gave until he thought his contributions were no longer needed. I, for one, miss him greatly.

A shame he left then eh?

In the little time that I spent with him Ranger was extremely helpful and kind. I too noticed that he had spent almost 700 BA the other day.
