CB Trivia Quiz Contest ~ December 2008

What do I need to do to win?

1. Play the daily quiz here - http://my.funtrivia.com/private/main.cfm?tid=59178 - the more often you play the better your chances of winning the pot.

2. Send 100k entry fee to my character "triviapot" by midnight on the 20th of the month. (if you send money after that date, then it will be considered as a donation, these are always welcome)

3. Post the transfer log from the above transfer in this thread and include your user id from the daily quiz site if different from your user id here.


On the first day of the calendar month, I will post the previous month's Hall of Fame standings in this thread from the above web site. The payouts are as follows:

1. The highest ranking entrant will win 3/6 of the pot.
2. The next highest entrant will win 2/6 of the pot.
3. The next highest entrant will win 1/6 of the pot.


An entrant is anyone who has paid the entry fee for that month's contest. In other words if you place first in the monthly cumulative score but failed to pay your entry fee by the cut-off date, then we enjoyed playing with you, but you are not eligible for any prize.

I will also be taking part in this contest and winning prizes if I do well enough, so if you have a problem with that then please do not play. Thanks to GentlemanLoser for being our daily quiz moderator and creator.

If you do not have the money to send at the first of the month, it would be wise to go ahead and start playing with us on a daily basis and send the money sometime before midnight on the 20th. You are also welcome to just play along with us and not be eligible for the prizes, the more the merrier.

Playing everyday is not required, but since the score is cumulative, it will increase your score to do so. Missing some days will not necessarily mean you are out of the running though. I will be giving daily rankings in this post as the month progresses. Any donations received will be applied to that month's contest and can be sent to my character "triviapot" as well. the rankings in the hall of fame for each month are determined by the points, not the wins. on each daily quiz, under the "award" column it tells you how many points you receive for that days quiz, all of these added together make up your monthly points for rankings. good question and i will add this to my rules for future months! : )

while i am not sure of this, i would guess that if two users have the same point score, then the one with the most wins would be ranked higher.

I'm tempted to play, but I can't do the quiz every day. Is it possible, perhaps for next month, to take the average score, with the condition that you have to do, for example, at least 15 quizzes in the month?

i will use an example of the november results to hopefully make the prize payout more clear. here is the results from the hall of fame page on the trivia site for the top 3 people:

1. dudemus (138 points, 2 wins)
2. abbathorx (131 points, 0 wins)
3. MarkD (114 points, 2 wins)

if our pot had been 2,000,000 cb, then 1 (dudemus :) would get half the pot or 1,000,000 cb. second place, abbathorx, would receive 666,666 cb and third place, markd, would have received the remainder which would be 333,334 cb.

as for offering other prizes or doing the current pot differently, i am trying to make this as trouble free for me as possible so that i can keep doing it for a long time if the interest is there. if the interest is great and the pot grows well, i have thought about adding in some other rewards or even having a mid-month prize.

at this point in time though, i am going to start small and see how things go. i certainly appreciate input though and am hoping that with daily updates on scores that most people will remember to play every day.

it took me a bit, but i realize now that you were probably just joking. d'oh!!

i did leave the fractions in sixths so that it would be obvious that they add up to 6/6ths or 100 percent of the pot being paid out, plus any donations.

also, the above example assumes that the top 3 would have paid there entry fee and thus been eligible for the prizes. if that was not the case, then the top 3 entrants would get those amounts listed.

I see only 11 people have played thus far. I'll raise the stakes.

50k to anyone who beats me today. That's not limited to one person.
