Best Game System (in Off-topic)

The Old Gods December 13 2008 4:26 PM EST

I have a Wii, but it's starting to bore me cuz there are no good games out for it except for Brawl and Mario Galaxy. I haven't played the 360 or PS3 much but i hear about all the good games on the systems. so i was wondering should i sell my Wii and get a 360, a PS3, or stick it out and hope to god some good games for the Wii come out?

PearsonTritonRaveshaw December 13 2008 4:28 PM EST

A Wii is more for parties and kids. If you're a hardcore gamer, it probably isn't the best choice. I'd say get a ripped out PC, because almost everything comes out for the PC eventually. Also, who the heck can shoot accurately with an analog stick? Sheesh... I'll take a keyboard and mouse any day...

But, if you aren't considering using your PC for games, then I'd recommend the 360. The PS3 is simply overpriced, and you never hear of "Exclusive to PS3" games (correct me if I'm wrong).

Lord Bob December 13 2008 4:39 PM EST

"and you never hear of "Exclusive to PS3" games"

Final Fantasy 13
God Of War III

For those two reasons alone I'm going for a PS3 after Christmas. Also, I'm kind of biased against Microsoft, so I'm avoiding the 360.

PearsonTritonRaveshaw December 13 2008 4:43 PM EST

Are those two games on a time contract?

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] December 13 2008 4:48 PM EST

FF13 is definitely not PS3 exclusive...

Dudster4 December 13 2008 4:51 PM EST

let me correct you raveshaw the ps3 has no "good" exclusive games, the best one i've seen is resistance, i have a 360 and would recommend it.

Cube December 13 2008 5:03 PM EST

Psht, a keyboard and mouse is overrated. I also prefer the joy stick because then I don't have to pick up my mouse to turn all the way around. Not to mention a computer that can run games well is far more expensive than a game system.

I'd recommend 360 for the same reasons everyone else said.
And Bob final fantasy 13 is coming out for the 360.

The Old Gods December 13 2008 5:16 PM EST

I've played the game left 4 dead at my friends house and its rly pushed me toward the 360.

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] December 13 2008 5:19 PM EST

PC is the obvious choice for gaming, but if you are bent on a system, 360 is it - Left 4 Dead being my main reason :p

QBOddBird December 13 2008 5:20 PM EST

Zelda Twilight Princess is also a good game for the Wii.

Unappreciated Misnomer December 13 2008 5:25 PM EST

i would also like to make an honorable mention for a wicked new PC and your monitor would be a 47-52 inch flat screen tv. PC has the best multiplayer, consoles is more solo playing imo

FF13 is definitely not PS3 exclusive... - WRONG (not completely)
ff13 is a 3 title game being released, in no particular order: one is a cell phone game, antoher is for 360 and ps3 and the 3rd one is ps3 EXCLUSIVE

and fallout3 and resistance are good if not great multi platform games, they all have bugs btw.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] December 13 2008 5:34 PM EST

You can't call the PS3 "overpriced" tbh. I mean, lets be completely blunt. You can pay 300-400 bucks for a PS3 or you can pay 800-1k for a BluRay Player. Which sounds more reasonable?

Dudster4 December 13 2008 5:46 PM EST

blu-ray players are not 800-1k, more like $250

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] December 13 2008 5:52 PM EST

WTB Your Prices in Seattle. o.o

Lord Bob December 13 2008 5:52 PM EST

"And Bob final fantasy 13 is coming out for the 360."

Um, wow.

Afk, going to Walmart. o.o

Soul Eater December 13 2008 5:58 PM EST

Ya it is coming out on the 360 it's no longer exclusive. Also I love my Xbox 360! There's a bunch of exclusive games coming out on the 360 next year I'm real excited!

Soul Eater December 13 2008 6:01 PM EST

Also I forgot to mention that Fable 2 is XBox 360 exclusive and is an excellent game!

Rawr December 13 2008 6:01 PM EST

boo fable 2

Soul Eater December 13 2008 6:05 PM EST

Fable 2 is awesome! Also Gears of War 1 and 2 are both Amazing Games which are also Xbox 360 exclusive.

BadFish December 13 2008 6:06 PM EST

fable 2 sucks

Soul Eater December 13 2008 6:07 PM EST

Plus this Blu-Ray player is cheaper http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10284350

Soul Eater December 13 2008 6:08 PM EST

lol you obviously haven't played Fable 2 then.

BadFish December 13 2008 6:08 PM EST

Why would I say it sucks if I hadn't played it? I played it and it sucked. End of story.

Soul Eater December 13 2008 6:10 PM EST

Well then I liked it. But whatever to each his own.

BadFish December 13 2008 6:11 PM EST

Anyway, it's great how much blu-ray player prices have dropped. There was a time not too long ago when silva would have been right... Blu-ray players were way more expensive than a ps3, and it was smarter to simply buy a ps3 if you wanted a blu-ray player, plus you got the ability to play games too.

{cb1}Linguala December 13 2008 6:17 PM EST

Exclusive doesn't mean much anymore.
MGS was PS3 exclusive, FF13 was supposed to be exclusive.
Nowadays, my concept of exclusive is: 'First on this system, 6 months later on all the others'.
It wouldn't surprise me if we got some kind of Zelda on the ps3 too. Unless it was made by Microsoft...

Soul Eater December 13 2008 6:20 PM EST

lol Zelda will always be on some sort a Wii console since it was originally a Nintendo License to begin with.

Soul Eater December 13 2008 6:21 PM EST

Oh and another thing I've heard is that the Fallout 3 DLC is Xbox 360 Exclusive.

Goodfish December 13 2008 7:25 PM EST

I'm a huge fan of the PS3. It's definitely got a steep price tag, but the PSN stuff is kind of neat, and the ability to hook up to SU's medical project (you can put extra processing power to work helping analyze diseases to help find cures, kind of neat) is just cool.

I'm a huge fan of the 80G's backwards compatibility, since I still play a lot of PS2 games. The games I'm really digging on the PS3 are Disgaea 3 (which is PS3 exclusive and a great game), Fallout 3 (which is obviously cross-platform but a great PS3 title nonetheless), and Little Big Planet. I had my doubts about it, but I played it for a while last weekend and it's great fun. Another PS3 exclusive. I'm also super pumped for Resident Evil 5 (no clue if it's cross-platform) and FFXIII, which is apparently NOT exclusive anymore (and one of the major reasons I bought my PS3, boo). Valkyria Chronicles also seems promising, and is an exclusive RPG. It mixes elements of 3rd-person shooter with RPG ones, and I'm going to buy it after Christmas.

All this said, though, I'd get a 360. Literally the ONLY reason I wound up buying my PS3 was for Disgaea 3. Unless there's an exclusive game you really want, stick to the 360.

The "media hub" that is the PS3, though, is mighty handy. I can use it as a music center, a DVD/Blu-Ray player, and I can hook up just about any USB-centered device to it. I certainly like that part.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] December 13 2008 8:12 PM EST

I like the 360, it has a lot of good console games and it gets the job done for me. I play FPS's pretty hard and I find that I enjoy playing them on the 360 more than any other system, including PC's.

Ancient Anubis December 13 2008 8:39 PM EST

i'm sticking with wii and i must say mario cart is kick ass for just before going out and playing when on the drink. Also resident evil 4 and 5 are both on the wii and just wait for the shooting platform games i'm sure some more will be coming out nintendo usually comes out with some greats eg golden eye and perfect dark on n64. Plus think of the arcade possibilties someone said whats better than a joystick how bout the laser pointer gun accessory to the wii i have it and its awesome for resident evil its quick precise and fun as. Plus there's heaps of cool games from what 6 different systems prior such as super nes and n64 to download via the web.

PearsonTritonRaveshaw December 13 2008 10:00 PM EST

I love PC games because you get multiplayer. XBox Live costs like $15 a month or so right? Multiplayer on PC is free, unless it's a pay to play MMO. Also, most of the 360 games that are exclusive also come out on windows, like fable: the lost chapters, which was actually a much better version of the xbox fable, and gears of war, etc.

Also, PC games have mods. Mods rock. Mods make those games you played so much and got burnt out on fun again.

Also, I'm 99% sure that the fallout 3 downloadable content is NOT 360 exclusive. That would just be silly. If something is exclusive, it is meant to be an incentive to purchase the system. Nobody is going to purchase a 360 for downloadable content.

Nehemiah December 14 2008 2:20 PM EST

i dont have a ps3 myself, but at one time i owned ps1 and ps2.

The play station brand is pure quality, you wont be disipointed i think, they always have really good games, atleast they did for nearly a decade while i had those 2 systems, really good track record if you ask me.

God Bless you!

Jesus Loves you!

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] December 14 2008 2:46 PM EST

If you like FPS then 360 is your choice.
If you prefer a better range of games and prefer not paying to play online (if you plan to play online a lot) then I'd definitely recommend PS3.
If you have a HD capable TV, love films/anime, want a free and easy to use online system then PS3 hands down, the system is just so much more complete.
If you just want to blow things up then pay the cheaper price for the 360.

[RX3]Cotillion December 14 2008 3:31 PM EST

I'd recommend the Xbox 360 over the PS3. I have them both and I rarely ever play my PS3. Not to mention that thing called Xbox Live.

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 15 2008 7:52 AM EST

I do my heavy (FPS, or occasional RPG) on the PC, party games (Brawl, Mario Kart Wii) on the Wii, and RPG(s) (Chrono Trigger, FF III & IV, Castlevania), on my DS.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] December 15 2008 8:08 AM EST

PS3 is expensive...
The blue ray technology is making it expensive and if you don't use the blue ray player, is money waisted.

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 15 2008 9:38 AM EST

That should have been "heavy gaming". *coughs*
