Because of the Shadow Cloaks very minimal magic penalties (less than 1%), and most enchanters use cornuthaums + SBs, aren't Shadow Cloaks better to use? I'm using an MCM and/or Elven Hauberk, and I see no reason why I should lose 20-30 possible AC just to keep .667 of my already boosted enchants. Does the tiny penalties really outweigh much more damage reduction?

The only reason I could think of is if an enchanter also used a skill. Otherwise, I agree, a Shadow Cloak would be a much better option.

Yeah, overall an SC is probably better except SG wise, but AC doesn't make a giant difference unless you go all out. So unless you had nothing else to spend your money on, I'd leave them naked.

Well for me specifically I'm using base Steel Skin with a 20 HP minion, so skill reductions are meaningless.

G4 - really? AC doesn't matter that much? Agh! Then whats the point of an enchanter using AC? I noticed a significant avg dmg drop of an archer against my 1st minion who went from 47 to 113 AC, comapred to my lower AC 2nd and 4th minions.

and around 160 AC (MCM + SC) and an SoC would make phys damage significantly lower, would it not?

Well sure it makes a difference.
I just always felt I had something better to spend my money on than armor for my enchanters, but well you can never spend enough money on a wall. =)

Ok, I just wanted a few opinions and I got them, thanks!

If you want though, you might even consider CMLs, their penalty isn't that tiny 3.33% (6.33% if you are comparing to SBs), but they give a ton of AC (75ish), and they don't cost 3 million.
The more AC you have the more effective your AC is.
160 AC - 27%
235 AC - 39%
100-27 = 73
39-27 = 12
12/73 = 16.5% less damage than before.

"100-27 = 73
39-27 = 12"
Where does the 100 and 39 come from?

You originally have a 27% reduction, which means you are taking 73% damage already. The 39% is the new reduction, which means you are taking 61% of the damage done.
61% is 16.5% smaller than 73%

haha I see. Go simple arithmetic!
Anyways thanks, I appreciate the input. I am 99% sure I'll be using SC, and I will be highly considering CML's, if my enchants are good enough with Corns and AoF s.
Thanks!
