Great way to start the new year (in Off-topic)

Decided to turn on my xbox 360 today and play some GH: World Tour. What I least expected was the three red rings of death. Well turns out I got 'em.

Now I've had my xbox for over 2 years and not a single problem. A few months back I decided to get it modded for 75 bucks. It was worth it got to sell all my games and that easily covered it. Now with that voiding my warranty that leaves me 2 options. Send it in for about $150 plus shipping and handling. At that price I can buy a brand new xbox. So I decided to take it apart. Got to the part where I realized I didn't have the right screwdriver. Hopefully tomorrow it'll all be over and all good with. Wish me luck with my xbox surgery.

Wow in my opinion your kind of dumb to mod your Xbox 360 because that completely voids your warranty meaning Microsoft Won't touch it. So you basically screwed. Also if you were to go on Xbox live with a modded box and they detect it you'll be banned from Xbox Live.

I didn't know what the three red rings of death were, so I Google Imaged it. I found this pretty funny:

Who told you about modded xbox's? Microsoft will still allow me to send it in, all it did was void my warranty so I'd have to pay. Also I've played on xbox live with 30+ burnt games and I've yet to get banned. If I had the chance to do it all over again, I'd have it modded again easily.

I've had friend's who have modded there Xbox 360's and gotten banned from Live. Also they've gotten Red Ring and they sent it in, but Microsoft sent it back to them unchanged because they said it was Modded.

Well as for getting banned, there's a reason why I only play stealthed games. So I can't be detected and banned. Also I knew some who sent his modded xbox in and received a refurbished one back. So I really have no comment on sending it in.

But in any case, you're a pirate. Good luck with that. Your OP is like saying you ripped all of your CDs, then sold them all, but then lost the hard drive with the digital content.

Cry me a river. I think that's a terrible way to handle things, and it makes honest folks like me who use digital content properly look bad. I hope you have to re-purchase all of your games and a new console.

I'm going to have to agree with Sut on this one. It's nice to see that I'm not the only one out there that still thinks this is wrong.

I like to think of myself as a true pirate, i have a modded xbox like Ganja but instead of buying games i rent and rip them.

The Old Gods January 1 2009 11:21 PM EST

Oh yeah and good luck with your xbox Ganja

So everyone here is saying they DON'T or have never downloaded illegal music, movies, games or anything as such? Now I know downloading and burning games isn't a good thing, but remember I still pay for everything else the xbox itself, controllers, xbox live gold etc.

I'd also like to state modding my xbox has made me feel like getting back at the game stores, such as EB Games (Gamestop). Has anyone ever bought a new game for $60 and realized it was terrible and ended up selling it back a month later for $15 back at the store they bought it at?

Alright anyways, I'll be able to fix my xbox myself.

Also instead of buying games and supporting the gaming industry I now support the DL DVD+R industry :)

CB really doesn't support or condone pirating (unless it's drunken radioactive monkey ninja pirates) or other illegal activities.
