i have never gotten a response from the devs on my clarifications i asked for in the known issues thread, so am going at this from a different angle to see if the jiggy is buggy.
does junctioning an aof to a hal familiar have any affect on the familiar or the familiar's damage?

It does not seem to affect HF in any way other than getting more damage from GA? ;)
same issue as with UC on the jig, AoF only increase DD nothing else for a familiar
okay, i was just wondering if maybe there was a damage increase for the melee familiars. with random damage it was difficult to tell without doing some retraining and more testing than what i want to do while on my ncb.

Nope. No damage increase. At least not noticeable.
