Quake Live (in Off-topic)

Now you can play through the browser for free, a buddy of mine at school told me about this, I have only signed up, have not tried it out yet. Plan on trying it out tonight.

it's good stuff, & seems to be breathing a bit of life back into Q3.

Only a couple of minor things.. maps could do with a bit more variety (customs) & the server rotations are a bit buggy, but on the whole it's an excellent web-based version of Q3 with a bright future ahead!

It's still in beta... And it's still failing for me. Had it for a week now, it stopped working for some reasons and they were having issues with Aus servers. Many people got turned off by all the crap happening, but I dunno what they were expecting when it quite clearly says "Quake Live Beta".

I'll semi-occasionally play it when it goes live/starts working again.

I've been playing since it went into open Beta. Quite good, they seem to have worked out all the queue problems, so I'm only waiting in a 5k queue instead of a ~30k one.
Pretty much like Q3 except with clan support, stat tracking, and skill levels. Fancy UI, too.
My only problem is that there is no mod support, so no InstaUnlagged (sniffle), and no trickjumping, and no custom maps. :(

Mod for Q3, Rail-guns only, and they give you the same lift as shooting a rocket at your feet. Extremely fast paced, and only if your very talented with a rail-gun. In fact, Youtube some Q3 videos that feature people playing in an InstaUnlagged server. ;)

Rail-jumping, actually. With InstaUnlagged...

Woot, got it working for me. I should use this time to practice up so I don't get fail stats, but hmm. Study is always good!
