In Need Of... (in Off-topic)

AdminTal Destra March 11 2009 2:26 AM EDT

Some decent heavy music that I can wipe my mind away with.
For all those out there that know my situation, it has turned sour and
I need to cleanse my soul.
For reference I like:
NonPoint
Seether
Staind
Godsmack
Bush
Puddle of Mudd
Shattersphere
Hatebreed
Lamb of God
State of Shock
Pearl Jam

If you know anything I could add let me know.

Check out:

Protest the Hero
Trigger Point
HORSE the Band
Mastodon
Opeth
Silent Civilian
Thrice
Veil of Maya

All very, very good metal bands.

In Flames.

Adminedyit [Superheros] March 11 2009 5:08 AM EDT

Kittie
Slipnot
Pantera
Metallica
Megadeth
Slayer
Tool

Daz March 11 2009 5:24 AM EDT

I used to like Kittie a lot. My tastes have changed a lot recently, though. I think the only metal I still like these days is In Flames. I haven't really paid much attention to any other bands.

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] March 11 2009 8:38 AM EDT

Saliva
Chimera
Smashing Pumpkins (songs like Bullet with Butterfly Wings and Doomsday Clock)
P.O.D
Breaking Benjamin
Down
Drowning Pool
Soil
American Headcharge

Those should fit nicely around your list but just as an addition for a little happy look up Hayseed Dixie :)

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] March 11 2009 10:24 AM EDT

Any obscure (or not so obscure) power/symphonic European metal band.
Personally, I like:

Nightwish -- I know Zog doesn't agree with me, but man, can Tarja sing. And Tuomas can write like a beast.

Dragonland -- Good band, IMO.

Rhapsody of Fire -- Epic.

Helloween -- Classic.

Metallica -- Kind of a no-brainer... MoP and One are especially good.

Sonata Arctica -- If you can stand the singing, go for it.

Within Temptation -- Not too loud, but pretty calming. Lyrics are nice, too.

Kamelot -- The only good U.S. power metal band. Listen to their albums "Epica" and "The Black Halo" (in that order); they tell a pretty powerful story.

Epica -- Stole their name from one of Kamelot's albums, but still, pretty good band.

Apocalyptica -- Metallica. On cellos.

Just a run-down of some of the bands I listen to... Hope it helps!

"Within Temptation -- Not too loud, but pretty calming. Lyrics are nice, too."

I listen to WT a lot.
I started listening when I still liked metal. I didn't add them because I don't really consider them to be metal any more. That's my personal opinion, I know they technically are, but yeah.

Hmm... CDWow still haven't shipped my copy of The Black Symphony...

Andy March 11 2009 12:23 PM EDT

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] March 11 2009 12:26 PM EDT

Just got back from Locofest(another post coming soon on that one! :D), and aside from the three major headliners (Mudvayne, Nonpoint, and In This Moment) who *jammed* with a vengeance, other bands I found to be *awesome* were:

Hed P.E
Shortfuse
Bury the Broken
Kryterium
A Quiet Mind
In the Trench

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] March 15 2009 7:17 AM EDT

Disturbed (Second album I think)
Breed 77 (River)
Streets (Dry your eyes)
Busta Rhymes remix of M.O.P. 'Ante Up'
Perfect Circle (Passive)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] March 15 2009 7:19 AM EDT

And to hear the most uplifting song in the world;

Dhaler Mendi 'Tunak Tunak Tun'
