Why is there a 10 item limit? (in General)

Rawr March 15 2009 8:00 PM EDT

Why is there a 10 item limit that can be held on a character? I could easily get a new character, sure, but I'd prefer to have just one storage character..

DoS March 15 2009 8:06 PM EDT

Make minions, problem temporarily solved.

AdminLamuness March 15 2009 8:24 PM EDT

A better question probably is, is the 10 item limit too low?

As for the original question, it wouldn't be much fun if players with all the money in the world could just buy up all the items wouldn't it?

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] March 15 2009 8:41 PM EDT

The already can, fill character, retire, pay me 50k to unretire when needed ;)

I still don't have enough space even if I fill all of my minions with gear, Maybe raise the limit a little?

bump :)

As I posted on that other thread: I like the idea of increasing the limit to 15 for supporters only.

QBRanger March 16 2009 12:42 PM EDT

LB, that is a really good idea.

Make it nice but not essential to become a supporter.

AdminNightStrike March 16 2009 12:49 PM EDT

The limit is currently increased from 40 items to 100 items for supporters.

QBRanger March 16 2009 12:50 PM EDT

40 Items? Where did that come from?

I thought it was 10 unequipped items per character.

x 5 characters max = 50.

But thanks for increasing it.

AdminNightStrike March 16 2009 12:58 PM EDT

10 weapons and 10 armor, so 20 items per character. Non-supporters have 2 characters, supporters have 5. So, it is currently 40:100. I didn't actually change anything.

QBRanger March 16 2009 12:59 PM EDT

ah, but what about increasing the limit on supporter characters to 15?

Even with 10 per, it gets a bit crowded for some of us.

We can of course use numerous character, however, finding items is much easier if they are one "storage" character.

lostling March 16 2009 1:09 PM EDT

just merging all of the inventories would solve alot of problems lol

AdminNightStrike March 16 2009 1:13 PM EDT

That's something I've been trying to figure out how to do for a while. It makes no sense to have items be per-character. They should be per account, in some "inventory pool". It's just that the entire system is based on the idea that it is per-character. For instance, think of how many transfer history pages generate data per character?

Anything's doable, some things just take more time than others.

As a way to aid a possible transition, it might be possible to create for people a pure storage character, then disable inventories on others.

QBRanger March 16 2009 1:39 PM EDT

I would not completely disable inventory on other characters as they may be a need to move some items around.

But at least thanks for looking into this.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] March 16 2009 1:40 PM EDT

that should be fine and it would also take care of the issue of needing too many slots for storage characters and not having a tourney slot.

QBRanger March 16 2009 1:41 PM EDT

I think Mikel would 100% agree :)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] March 16 2009 1:44 PM EDT

giving the mule character a drop down for equipping items to all of your character's minions and having unequipped items go there would take away the need for slots to move items around.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] March 16 2009 1:45 PM EDT

how does a vault idea sound?

QBRanger March 16 2009 1:46 PM EDT

No too bad.

A entity that has no minions but has a large storage capacity.

However, I do not know if the reason for a 10 item limit was to encourage people not to horde items and let more items out to the community.

QBRanger March 16 2009 1:47 PM EDT

NoT too bad an idea.

Cube March 16 2009 3:22 PM EDT

Suggestion: User limit

lostling March 16 2009 3:30 PM EDT

vault = something like bank :) most rpg games have a variation of such a system

There's a post somewhere by Jon about how he likes the fact that you have to retire a pack mule to get into a tourney.....
