New users can't PM for a week... (in General)

Probably to cut down on spam. That's my guess.

Sure, why not. It would be a bit more time consuming perhaps, but it could be done.

I think it is a stupid "feature."

Maybe this is why mentor program was disbanded, mentors could not get a hold of their mentees and vice versa? I always CM'd my mentees, but almost never got a response. I guess because of this, it happened 100% of the time for mentors who PM'd their mentees. For me, normally if I didn't get a response back, from my mentee, by CM I usually gave up.

Actually, I asked this of Jon and he gave me the answer.

Apparently, it's a spacing issue with the chat windows. Not all browsers have room for carnage/newplayers/PM/users. I think that was it. Or something close.

All I remember was that it wasn't something that could just be "changed". It was an actual reason.

small, this is a fairly new issue... Far as I know it came a good while after mentor disbandment. Your newbs were just innactive/apathetic

It's not really what you'd call fairly new, it's close to a year old...
