My Bonsai Tree (in Off-topic)
Well i got this Bonsai tree over the holidays and have been taking care of it pretty well. How ever it is now spring and it's growth is accelerated and i have looked on the internet for help and have gotten some. However i was wondering if anyone has one them selves and could maybe give me some advise. I am still not sure what breed it is but is has long pine needles and i will post a pic if i can gather some interest.

if it has pine needles it doesnt sound like a true bonsai.
I imagine it is the same with all plants to stunt growth you just need trim off any new branches that start immidiatly. Depending on how vertical it has grown already you can pinch the top most part (the main trunk part) and kill it which will stop a plant from growing up and start to bush more then grow vertical.
Dead heading is the term that is used i beleive.

Russians can do anything.
Now lets see an American grow a tree in his lung!!!
This comment on the page that OB linked made me laugh out loud.
That thing in Russia was a hoax.
Anyways.....advise?tips? or should i give up and punch it?
tips? water with a spray bottle, like an old windex bottle that you've cleaned really well
Okay but i have no clue how to cut the tree.
Do i trim the needles? where do i cut on the branches i don't want?
Do i cut at a angle...and so many more
rubberbands are your friends, if you don't want a branch just band it really really tight, itll die within 24 hours and you can just snap it off
dont bother cutting the needles only the branches to stunt its growth. if you want to grow with a bend in it as to make it look like its blowing in the wind try tieing a penny on the end of the branch or tie a string with a rock attached. if your bonzai is any good it will learn to survive on minimal amounts of water to help stunt growth, and sometimes they are grown on clay to expose the roots which later you can cut to further stunt the growth. try to grow the bonzi in indirect lighting. GL hope your green thumb is better than mine

Hmm, some interesting stuff here people. Like the ideas for helping shape your tree. I'm now even more interested in getting one.
For those who can't keep green things alive... start with bamboo!
They're fun to watch get new shoots and get taller and taller... and really hard to kill!
aloe vera is also very resilent, hard to kill, just put in sunlight and water once a week, and presto
