(In case you haven't played Quake Live, 'DNF' means 'Did Not Finish'). Well, it's official. 3D Realms is shutting down, and taking with them the infamous Duke Nukem Forever. They made the whole of three games over their (excruciatingly) long existence as a game making company. R.I.P., the best game that I'll never get to play. :(

Any other developer could buy the rights and pick up where 3D Realms left off. But after 13 years of development, I don't foresee that vaporware ever coming to life.
I posted this in chat through the night last night exactly like that saying DNF = Did not Finish, rofl. And they made more than 3 games. Like 5 DN Games, Max Payne 1 & 2, Prey, and Shadow Warrior.
But they deserved it by milking Take Two for more and more money but kept restarted DNF every year and never finishing.
And it's not shutting down, it IS down. Can't access the website already.

Take-Two has filed a motion to get the source code to DNF. It may have been done to solely to protect their interests in the pending lawsuit, but it makes sense that Take-Two also wants to finish the product with a new dev team and get it out the door so they can finally hedge this loss.

3d realms is trying to sell the rights of dukenukem, problem is they can't find a studio willing to buy it.
