Funny / Controversial Video (in Off-topic)

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 7 2009 5:13 PM EDT

Take this video as you will. I found it hilarious yesterday when I was watching the show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1deEJGLuP_0

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 7 2009 5:26 PM EDT

To anyone who started watching and didn't watch to the end, you have to watch a good while into it before it gets really funny, the ending is HILARIOUS.

QBRanger May 7 2009 5:31 PM EDT

This video is even a better laugh.

What I most love about it is the statement all conservatives are racist.

If you do not like Obama for any reason, your racist.

Does not matter he is inexperienced, came from the Chicago Political machine, is ultra liberal etc..

No, if you dislike him, since he is black, your racist.

And I also guess she is an expert in neurology as I must have a huge limbic system making my frontal lobe synapses misfire :)

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 7 2009 5:36 PM EDT

Yeah, I've seen that many times too, I just linked this one b/c it just happened yesterday. He also actually kicked the guy off the show, which I found freaking sweet.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 7 2009 5:37 PM EDT

"And I also guess she is an expert in neurology as I must have a huge limbic system making my frontal lobe synapses misfire"

I'm sure she knows a lot more about the medical field than you do Ranger :P.

Lord Bob May 7 2009 6:10 PM EDT

I'm a liberal. I still find it pretty sad that if Obama or any black liberal is criticized for policy then there are a few on the fringe that would immediately throw around the word 'racist'.

Key word there is 'few.' Painting the entire Left with that brush is reckless.

And Glenn Beck still needs to be shot. I read a portion of his book a few years ago. He's nothing but a right wing pig.

j'bob May 7 2009 6:11 PM EDT

Sorry, I only got thru the first vid. Maybe tomorrow I'll watch the second. Didn't laugh once, though I can see how it could be funny. I just found it sad. Both of them are idiots.

QBRanger May 7 2009 6:21 PM EDT

Yes, LB.

However those few are the most vocal and some are even on national TV in the forum of "news" anchors.

And yes, Glen Beck is an [Admin Edit] also.

AdminQBVerifex May 7 2009 6:23 PM EDT

Artemis, here's a titled link Here's a titled link.

Lord Bob May 7 2009 6:25 PM EDT

"However those few are the most vocal and some are even on national TV in the forum of "news" anchors."

Like how the lunatics uber-right wingers of the GOP, like those on Fox and those idiots at the tea parties are always the most vocal conservatives?

Yeah, like that.

Sickone May 7 2009 6:27 PM EDT

I fail to see what's funny in the first video (and yes, I watched all of it).

On one side, you have a spokesperson of an organisation that almost encourages its members to commit voter registration fraud.
Sure, it's quite likely nobody specifically told any of the members to do it, but they certainly didn't make it clear that it would be BAD to do it.
Of course this guy will get as technical as possible almost going into legalese to drive the point through, and will get angry if the opposition fails to talk reasonably.
Sure, he WAS beating around the bush a lot, but what ELSE do you expect a spokesperson to do ?

On the other side you have a guy that, while as a whole having the right idea, makes a complete fool out of himself through the way he's trying to drive the point across.
Not only did the blonde guy nearly fail the Turing test (he might as well have been a tape recorder since he mostly seemed to ignore the other guy), but he almost accused the other guy of conspiracy to commit voter registration fraud on a national level without any shred of proof. I mean, seriously, a couple dozen cases out of thousands upon thousands of employees ? Grow a statistics gland, Beck.

Then you get surprised if the other guy (at the apex of his exasperation) throws a sarcastic "you're just afraid of black people" at the end ? Or take it as some form of racist accusation, as opposed to a random insult ?

FOX News. Where every cough is a pandemic, and in spite of the shows being transmitted in full color, the world is ONLY purest white or pitch black.

Sickone May 7 2009 6:29 PM EDT

...figuratively speaking.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 7 2009 6:34 PM EDT

Sickone you don't think two idiots arguing like 5 year olds is funny. Wow, you have a very bland sense of humor.

Lord Bob May 7 2009 7:05 PM EDT

"Sickone you don't think two idiots arguing like 5 year olds is funny."

Not if one is Glenn Beck. He's not funny. He's scary.

And I know I'm not Sickone.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 7 2009 7:10 PM EDT

"And I know I'm not Sickone."

Thanks, sometimes I can't tell.

"Not if one is Glenn Beck. He's not funny. He's scary."

Really? You're going to pick Glenn Beck of all people and say that about him? Wow, ok, wow.

Lord Bob May 7 2009 7:18 PM EDT

"Really? You're going to pick Glenn Beck of all people and say that about him?"

Not just him. Hannity, O'Reilly, Coulter, Bachman, Limbaugh, Cheney, Rice, Huckabee, most of the rest of Fox News that I haven't named yet, Joe the Plumber, that half-wit Mike Clark from WRIF who used to be good before he decided he wanted to be a right wing mouthpiece, the morons organizing the tea parties, and all the other loonies on the far right. They're not funny. They scare the crap out of me.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 7 2009 7:19 PM EDT

Truth scares you huh? You forgot to list of MSNBC's news casters too. Maybe you should just hide from the news.

Lord Bob May 7 2009 7:23 PM EDT

"Truth scares you huh?"

No, you misread my post. Right wing propaganda scares me. The truth, I'm all for.

"You forgot to list of MSNBC's news casters too."

No I didn't. I did forget Sarah Palin though. But I agree Olbermann is a bit out there.

"Maybe you should just hide from the news."

I'd rather not take your approach.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 7 2009 7:27 PM EDT

"But I agree Olbermann is a bit out there."

I think you are confusing "a bit" and "extremely." Did you not watch Ranger's video? He freaking agreed with her. That is by far the worse propaganda I have seen in my life time, short of something old from WWII. Olbermann's not the only crazy one either.

Lord Bob May 7 2009 7:33 PM EDT

"I think you are confusing "a bit" and "extremely." "

And you'll sit here and defend Glenn Beck and the lunatics at Fox? Wow.

"Did you not watch Ranger's video?"

No. I had already watched yours, and there's only so much conservative nonsense I can take for one day.

"That is by far the worse propaganda I have seen in my life time, short of something old from WWII."

Come on. I mean, I haven't seen it yet, but Fox has tossed out some pretty amazing piles of poop in their time. I highly doubt you can top those. I'd post some now, but I'm getting ready to leave for the day. Maybe later.

"Olbermann's not the only crazy one either."

Right. There's all those other ones that I posted above. They're just not on the same network is all.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 7 2009 7:37 PM EDT

"Come on. I mean, I haven't seen it yet, but Fox has tossed out some pretty amazing piles of poop in their time. I highly doubt you can top those. I'd post some now, but I'm getting ready to leave for the day. Maybe later."

I watch Fox, CNN, MSNBC, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report (my favorite). Odds are you aren't going to put up a video I haven't already seen via a friend or directly. I stand whole-heartedly behind my statement.

InebriatedArsonist May 7 2009 10:05 PM EDT

Ranger: What I most love about it is the statement all conservatives are racist.

-I think Janeane Garofalo has spent the last eight years chainsmoking and seething with blind hatred, leading to the wizened husk of a woman we see today. Her inability to accept the existence of a rational basis for disagreeing with the President, his administration and Congress belies her tenuous grasp on reality.

QBRanger May 7 2009 10:25 PM EDT

Thanks IA,

I could not have said it better myself.

Sickone May 8 2009 4:39 AM EDT

"Sickone you don't think two idiots arguing like 5 year olds is funny."

Not when it's supposed to be almost news and they're both pretending to not be idiots...

" Wow, you have a very bland sense of humor. "

I prefer my comedy with actual humour.
I also find "<some country>'s funniest <something> videos" to be about 90% not funny at all.

Daz May 8 2009 5:20 AM EDT

Australia's funniest home videos is nearly the most awful thing on TV. Its defeated only by the current affairs shows (ACA and Today Tonight). I hate those three shows with all of my existence.

Lord Bob May 8 2009 3:49 PM EDT

Ok, I just watched Ranger's video. What Janeane was mainly referring to the -actual- racists attending their rallies with "Obama bin Laden" posters, stuffed monkeys dressed in suits, horrible racist imagery of all kinds, and people chanting crap about how America will be ruined if we get a black president. Some of these images were shown in the video, but I saw hundreds more on liberal blogs and news sites leading up to the election.

And people like this tend to vote Republican. It's true. These racists, like it or not, are a sizable demographic within the Republican Party.

These people should be called out, ridiculed, and shunned by the rest of civilized society. I'd say educated, but as she points out, some of those types are simply beyond any form of reasoning.

Her problem here is that she did exactly what Ranger kind of, sort of did earlier: she painted the entire conservative portion of the country with the same brush. Even if it wasn't her intent to do so (she said something to the effect that they are the minority, see 3:10) she certainly seemed to be painting wide brush strokes here, and it was dishonest. It was accurate for a portion of the conservative movement. Certainly not all of it.

So yes, I agree that Garofalo was full of poo. Still, the worst piece of propaganda ever? Not even close. This tops it by a mile: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/05/07/hannity-attacks-obama-for_n_198851.html
More here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/05/08/obama-mustard-attack-beco_n_199953.html

Lord Bob May 8 2009 3:54 PM EDT

"I also find "<some country>'s funniest <something> videos" to be about 90% not funny at all."

I agree, those shows suck. The ones with the pets are ok sometimes. The ones with the kids are not, and those shows are mostly filled by idiots who want to show off how cute they think their brats are.

QBRanger May 8 2009 4:07 PM EDT

O come on.

Garofalo was talking about all conservates. And about all the people going to the tea parties.

Not all the people at the tea parties were redneck racists. Most were normal people fed up with the mounting debt we are getting into.

Lord Bob May 8 2009 4:15 PM EDT

"Garofalo was talking about all conservates."

I don't think so, but she certainly implied it, which is why I said she was "full of poo." Regardless, I still condemn what she tried to get across.

STILL less awful then attacking Obama over mustard. Mustard! That's an even dumber reason to attack him then race, if that's even possible.

"And about all the people going to the tea parties."

Those people are idiots, and they deserve the ridicule. You guys lost the election. Now pay up like we did over the past eight years.

"Not all the people at the tea parties were redneck racists."

Maybe not, but enough were. I somehow doubt that they were all wealthy businessmen making over $250,000 a year getting taxed more. As Garofalo said, for many it's about race, gay marriage, and religion.

"Most were normal people fed up with the mounting debt we are getting into."

No.

QBRanger May 8 2009 4:23 PM EDT

LB,

You have a very skewed perception of the other side.

For me, it is nothing about race, gay marriage or religion.

I am Jewish, do not care if gays marry, and could not care who is in office as long as they are honest and experienced along with sharing my views on how things should be for America.

Obama is neither honest or experienced. And his views on the economy are utter garbage.

However these are for debate for another thread. But to lump all those who dislike Obama into one of those 3 categories is very myopic.

I know of 15 people who went to a tea party. All are honest hard working people, fed up with the entitlements people in America expect. And very fed up with the future debt this spending package is getting us into.

We certainly lost the election. But one of Obama's main points, one that helped him win the election, was one of trying to work with both parties. So far he has done nothing to follow through on it. Especially with is Spendulus Bill, which only 3 (now 2) Republican voted for. In fact, all the Republican input was shot down and never made it into that Bill except for the 3 traitors to the Rep party. And that 5 day window before he stated he would sign any bill into law? Haha, shame on us for believing that lie.

And the reason the wealthy businessmen were not at these tea parties were they were actually working. Something most people who were in the streets marching for Obama have never done.

Lord Bob May 8 2009 4:53 PM EDT

"You have a very skewed perception of the other side."

As do you. But we'll get to that.

"For me, it is nothing about race, gay marriage or religion."

Right, you're in it because you make over $250,000 a year. I'm not talking about you. Janeane was not directly talking about you, though she made the mistake of including you in her criticism of those others.

This is not about people like you.

It is about people like those SHOWN in the video, with the "Obama bin Laden" signs, and those I'VE seen spreading hateful, racist messages to get fellow white supremacists to vote Republican.

It is not about you.

And I've already said that I reject any attempt to lump every single conservative into the "stupid racist" category. This includes Garofalo's.

"Obama is neither honest or experienced."

John McCain wasn't honest. He was experienced, but only in making bad policy.

"And his views on the economy are utter garbage."

They're better than McCain's.

"But to lump all those who dislike Obama into one of those 3 categories is very myopic."

I seem to remember you lumping Liberal Obama supporters into a few undesireable categories as well. In the past You've called us lazy, and claimed that people voted Obama because of race and personality politics and not because of the issues.

So I guess lumping people into categories is only bad when our side does it. At least I'm consistent and denounce it on both sides.

You do it again in this very post. Wait for it, you'll see...

"But one of Obama's main points, one that helped him win the election, was one of trying to work with both parties. So far he has done nothing to follow through on it."

Bull crap. The Republicans have played the obstructionists every single time he has tried to reach out to them. He made concessions in the stimulus bill. Still not one of them (House) voted for it. He has included them in his conferences, even appointed some to cabinet. Still, they don't give him an inch.

Working with both parties does not equate to "Let's abandon Liberal policy and give the conservatives what they want."

The Republicans get a million times more cooperation out of Obama then we ever saw from Bush, you know, the "uniter, not a divider." I saw nothing that implied McCain would have given us anything either. Be happy with what you have. It's more than your side ever gave us.

"Especially with is Spendulus Bill, which only 3 (now 2) Republican voted for."

EXACTLY! As Obama said himself "you have to start meeting me half way." Your side is just used to your way or the highway. You don't get that anymore.

"And the reason the wealthy businessmen were not at these tea parties were they were actually working. Something most people who were in the streets marching for Obama have never done."

See, you made my point for me. Thank you for doing exactly what you do. How you think you can still sit here and bash Garofalo is beyond me. The word for this is hypocrisy.

QBRanger May 8 2009 5:03 PM EDT

I am just speechless.

How can you type with a straight face: "Janeane was not directly talking about you, though she made the mistake of including you in her criticism of those others. "

Her statement was directly to include me in those with a limbus system disorder making my frontal lobe neurons misfire. There was and is no debate about that. She was not equivocal in her statement. She stated it as a statement in fact and Keith just nodded in agreement.

This is not about Obama, McCain etc..

It is about 1 video that is beyond belief. And yet you seem to be an apologist for her. There is no excuse for what she is spouting.

Again, I have no hatred of Obama for being black. If Colin Powell ran I would probably have voted for him, as most Republican I know. However, quite a few people when I stated who I voted for stated I was racist as the first thing out of their mouth. This election was not a black/white issue, except in the minds of quite a few Democrats. And a few, yes few racist pigs in the far right wings.

Out of all those at the tea parties, there were very few of these ultra radicals. However, they seem to have garnered all the press. At least according to those that were actually at these events.

Lord Bob May 8 2009 5:24 PM EDT

"How can you type with a straight face: "Janeane was not directly talking about you,..""

I said DIRECTLY. She was referring to the idiots shown in the video, but included conservatives like you in that criticism, unjustly.

"This is not about Obama, McCain etc.."

You brought them up. I responded.

"It is about 1 video that is beyond belief."

The Hannity one? Because that's the one most beyond belief. Garofalo's I certainly don't agree with, but it's believable. Mainly because it seems I'm debating with her conservative twin right now.

"And yet you seem to be an apologist for her."

What? I'm not sure how many different ways I can type that I condemn what YOU AND HER are doing before you actually get it. I'm not apologizing for it. At this point I'm not even sure if you've read my posts are not. I condemn BOTH of you for the exact same thing. You and Janeane are one and the same.

What I can't quite grasp is how you're so up in arms about this while you commit the exact same offense in the very same post!

You're no better than her Ranger! You've both done the exact same thing. Sitting her whining about how Janeane's comments are untruthful and unfair just makes you a hypocrite!

"There is no excuse for what WE ARE spouting."

I hate to do the "I fixed your post" thing, because it's annoying and lame. But there it is.

"Again, I have no hatred of Obama for being black."

You know how I posted several lines about this not being about you? It was much longer, but I cut it down. Maybe I shouldn't have.

NOBODY with properly.. firing.. frontal lobe neurons.. or whatever.. is accusing you of being racist. Nobody. It's not as issue. You need to get over this.

My issue is with your hypocrisy.

"This election was not a black/white issue, except in the minds of quite a few Democrats. And a few, yes few racist pigs in the far right wings."

*laughs* Yeah, because the racists in the Republican party are just an afterthought, and the racists in the Democratic party stole the election!

My god, you two really are the same.
