Terminator Salvation (in Off-topic)

>_<

Ugg. What a load of tosh. The only good think in the film was Sam worthington as Marcus.

A thread bare plot, with a metric tonne of flaws and plot holes, shored up by amazing CGI.

/sigh

I feel sorry for the Bale. Overshadowed in Batman, this movie and no doubt will be by Johnny Dep in Dillinger Escape Plan, er Public Enemies.

Ernest-Scribbler June 18 2009 3:23 AM EDT

Its a terminator movie, the others did not win any academy awards. Though yes, it was "tosh", i feel you didn't turn your brain off enough.

number 2 should of won an award

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] June 18 2009 4:51 AM EDT

The new Teriminator is whack.

kevlar June 18 2009 4:52 AM EDT

:/ I'm glad I didn't choose it. I saw Star Trek instead. The problem with the Terminator movies post #2, and Alien movies ... post #2... is that James Cameron wasn't involved. There are a lot of sites that say he didn't endorse this movie, which is why I will wait for the rental.

I'm wondering if The Taking of Pelham 123 is any good?

QBJohnnywas June 18 2009 5:25 AM EDT

The Taking of Pelham 123 is a remake: go search out the original...

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] June 18 2009 5:27 AM EDT

Star Trek is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. And honestly I don't know anything about the series. Neither did my friends. We all liked it.

With that, I'm gonna say, if you happen to have an Asian girlfriend (I'm gonna say Raveshaw fo sho cause he's the only one I can think of right now) and she's into cute stuff go see UP. Cute movie.

"The Taking of Pelham 123 is a remake: go search out the original... "

Will definately have to see the original, didn't know this :) Walter Matthau was a great actor.

QBJohnnywas June 18 2009 6:01 AM EDT

The original is a classic.

I'm not even going to bother wasting bandwidth to watch this tripe.

uber tripe factor #1: Bale & that STUPID gruff voice he insists on using.
uber tripe factor #2: Michael Bay
#3: CGI overkill
#4: Looks nothing like the futuristic vision set by the first movies, hence all continuity is shattered.
#5: uhh i could go on all day

Michael Bay, please choose a different career and quit messing up the entire planet.

Cube June 18 2009 12:36 PM EDT

It's Terminator without Time Travel or Schwarzenegger...

What'd you expect?

Cube June 18 2009 12:39 PM EDT

As for Michael Bay, if you haven't seen this, watch it!

Burton June 18 2009 12:45 PM EDT

I liked it.

Schwarzenegger was in it, not for long, but he was in it. As for time travel, that really all it was about, without them actually doing the traveling, it was Bale trying to save his father (who was a child, actor was Chekov in Star Trek) throughout the whole movie...

Ernest-Scribbler: Its a terminator movie, the others did not win any academy awards.

-Terminator 2 received four Academy Awards, along with two other nominations. See here.

Cube June 18 2009 1:04 PM EDT

The reason Terminator was successful in the first place was because it was over the top, funny, and suspenseful. And by time travel, I mean high tech machines in the present day. That was the appeal of the set up of the movie because that's what was entertaining. I don't care about the time after, as far as I'm concerned the franchised ended when Skynet was activated. That was the Terminator story, the events leading up to such after that it'd a different series.

Also, Schwarzenegger was CG and body doubled into this one.

Mostly, I decided not to see the movie because all the promos featured solely action...

"#4: Looks nothing like the futuristic vision set by the first movies, hence all continuity is shattered."

Salvation was set ~10 years before the future scenes of the first two movies, hence the different weaponry and visual designs. No continuity was broken in that area.

I rather liked the film, but I expected more. The plot felt incredibly shaky at times, some characters felt unnecessary, and some dialog was just cheesy as can be. But the things they got right were very right, and thus I give it a 7/10.

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 18 2009 1:21 PM EDT

I agree with Lord Bob. For once. Someone take a screen shot!

Cube - that Bay Eats Cereal video had me rolling... too much to take =D
