well good grief!! We got some nice letter from HR a month ago informing us of our raises. WeeHaa!!. A whole Dollar an hour, seriously that is great raise. :)
Happy me checked my Direct deposit info this morning, because these payroll gurus here do their own thing. It doesn't ever benefit you. So I check that I don't have to make that angry call Friday 9 a.m. that my check is screwed up AGAIN!!
CRAP...my SS payments went from 152 every 2 weeks to 212. All us US citizens recieved one them letters telling us/you about a SS rate increase and I bet you threw it away, didnt you? Better look...
My raise and the Social Security increase netted me a total of -16.00
yes thats right, I make 16.00 less every 2 weeks now.
I'm going to have to make them check this out as it aint right :(

SS has been 7.65% since 1990.

The only thing I can think of that might mess with your SS rate is that July was a 3-Friday month. If your company only does deductions for things like Health Insurance and 401k twice a month, then your taxable income is that much higher. The math still doesn't quite work (your $152 payment implies a yearly taxable salary of $51k and the $212 payment implies a yearly taxable salary of $72k--I doubt your deductions amount to $20k).
Who do you work for that your payroll is so screwy?

that was good bolfen :) you work in payroll ?
and almost correct I'm impressed!!! My base salary was 52k indeed..very good!!!
I was explained that I/they had been under charging me for the SS tax, The few large deductions I noticed leveled me off and brought me up to date for the year....
I work for the NBA :) heh it is a mess lol...I'm not suppose to say that though I can be fined!!!
