When I try to dl (right click / save as) all that comes up is flash player options, and when I pass the mouse over it it doesn't show the link. Is there an app. that records video when you play it on your screen?

There is a plugin for Firefox which disables adds, when you put it at blocking nothing, it could display an overlay of which elements it can block.
About a year or so I used this to download embedded video clips from websites, such as gameplay trailers and the likes, not sure if it would still work though...
What are you trying to download the video from? Different websites / applications have different methods to download the content.

I use one called download helper.
Honestly, there are probably better flash video downloaders, but I'm used to this one.
Theres
http://keepvid.com/ which allows u to get from a lot of sites. For firefox i use FlashGot sometimes.
