I personally have only tried a Mac once and absolutely hated it. That was years ago, but I always get a laugh when I see the Mac commercials, remembering a hilarious Maddox article about Mac vs Pc...
Which holds true long after he published his article.
So which do you use/prefer and why?

mac.
Shiny on the surface, but the unix framework means I can hack it as deep as I want. I can write complex scripts (bounce an audio file, convert it to FLAC, upload it to a server, send an email to the client with the login info) and trigger them all with a simple mouse gesture.

oh noes. not *that* discussion again...
/me hides under desk
For me the entire discussion and the fanboi war that's been going on over the years can be summarized by the following semi-amusing quote:
"There's one thing PC user can do that MAC users can't - shut the [PG! 25k fine] up about the kind of computer they're using."

Win XP Pro PC.
We recently got a Mac test machine in our office, and while the large screen high resolution screen is nice, and I know I can plug a standard, two button USB mouse in to get rid of that entire-mouse-as-button monstrosity, the controls and lack of PC standard options make me a bit uncomfortable. Why can't I create a new file by right-click > new?
I'm sure this is customizable, but I'd rather stick with XP Pro, or some Linux Fedora.

I haven't touched a Mac in almost a decade, but the experience was not good. I'm sure they're entirely different beasts by now, but I have no interest or need to give another one a chance when PCs do what I want nicely.
Mac: great for video editing, sound editing and for uhm status? I've seen many students walking around with a macbook instead of a normal laptop. It gives an air to them. However most students really don't use a mac to its full potential
The mac is also overpriced for what you're getting
PC: great for everything else.
