ELB vs SoD (in Debates)

VsCountStrum [Black Watch] September 18 2009 9:19 AM EDT

I have been wondering which is better the Elven Long Bow or Sling of Destruction.

Elven Long Bow
Pro
High damage
High BTH
High CTH

Con
Single target
Must train Archery

Sling of Destruction
Pro
good Damage
Splash Damage
No Archery - Better Exp concentration
Hits in all rounds

Con
Lower BtH
Lower CtH
lower damage on Single target

So, the question is: For Equal Net Worth which would you use and why?

I've used both and in the end I think I prefer the Mageseeker to either. Surprisingly high amount of damage once you start boosting the X, although not as cheap as the ELB. And archery is a pretty decent price to pay for both decent damage and mage seeking ability.

Infact given the damage I'm getting and that of the ELBs I'd say having to train archery is a fair price to pay.

The SoD was better before the reduction in damage. In my opinion that dropped it down just too far to be really useful as a main weapon. It's best use now is to thin out the opposition and then hit them with something bigger like Shocking Grasp.

Con for the SoD, you must train DM otherwise GA will eat you faster then with an elb

I had not really looked at the Mage Seeker, but it does look good. I think that it should be added to the Debate.

My mageseeker with approx 150 mill NW lets me beat The Immortals which is a 4.9 mill MPR team (I'm 3.6 mill) and has a SoD of over 200 mill NW and the second biggest magic missile in the game.

Most of the big ELBs however beat me and The Immortals - although I do take on most of the big HALs.

So that would translate as ELB>MSK>SOD wouldn't it?

the immortals has low dex on his tank, where as you have more exp. concentration.. im doubting he's hitting you with his sod more than once per round.. and its pretty easy for you to beat his mage.. just wait till he starts using a tattoo again i think his will be the team to beat.. personally i say sod is the way to go =).
