OK CB, lets get together on this one... (in Off-topic)

Ok, so I find myself college bound, and unable to decide what the heck I want to do with my life... When trying to decide and asking others for advice I find myself getting the same general questions back, "What is it you want to do?"

Well obviously I just want to be filthy stinking rich...

Duh?

Isn't wealth in some form or another the only reason we humans seek "higher education?"

I'm sure there are exceptions to this *cough Fine Arts, but really, I just want to be able to provide for those around me, and live without fear of being on the street, or bagging groceries when I'm 60...

So It hit me today... School is for losers, winners just want money, who doesn't want to be rich?

So lets do it CB... lets "invent" something and get silly rich, partying and playing CB from various resorts and while updating our myspace to say, "Hey we have money so we're better than you!" (j/k... kind of)

I mean WOW if a guy can turn a bathroom inside out, call it a snuggie and make MILLIONS, you're telling me a community of nerds of OUR caliber can't top that?

We could always sell Slayer.

There's a start... We might have to rename him though :S Possibly bottle him too...

Also, invent warp travel, that should net me--us, some billions.

Easy, if you want to get stinking filthy horrible rich. Setup a power lottery that sells tickets for 1 buck each.

People have to guess 10 numbers correctly and one color correctly out of 100 numbers (1-100) and 6 colors to hit the jackpot.

You're progressive jackpot starts at 10 million dollar and you start paying out when they have 3 or more numbers correct.

The chance that someone hits the jackpot is minimal or that you actually have to pay out anything.

That or start an insurance company.

Finally, a cause I can believe in!


Also, after we hit it big and update our myspace pages, we should take the time to call people we haven't spoken to in years to inform them that we no longer have time to speak to them, on account of we're so rich and whatnot.

Maybe there is some other article of clothing we can turn inside out and profit on?

I already spoke in chat of it, I stepping to a pair of shorts rather hastily one day, and ripped the inside seam to create a pair of pants...

Maybe this is our calling?

Its shorts/pants in one, without zipping the legs like current market competitors, so you can have either shorts OR pants with a few simple snaps and without having to carry or worry about losing the legs!

We will also attend birthday parties uninvited of those we didn't get along with in highschool and buy them a $10,000 cake, and a birthday card made out of the backside of the cake's receipt...

Or here is another idea, who wants to move to Washington (well I already live here >_<) and grow medical marijuana? In the last 5 months Spokane (the closest city to where I live) has opened up 7 dispensaries... from 1 to 7....

With the feds now being unable to bust state legal grow operations, we could just cash in growing the crop and selling to dispensaries...

This is less along the lines of get rich without having to work hard, but it really wouldn't be THAT hard :O

Another idea brought up in chat is to write a vampire novel!!! We can have everyone who wants to get involved write chapters randomly, and win!

How about we all become huge bodybuilders and sweep the nation and the world winning competitions? J/K I want true strength and that can't be found by just bodybuilding. But money can be found in Bodybuilding if you make it your one thing in life!

Noooo. Make that a Furry Vampire Novel, and we'll advertise on Gaia Online. Then all we have to do is to laugh as we count our millions.

Jiraiya, I know exactly how you feel. I'm right at the same spot, I've almost finished university and I find myself... well, unwilling to finish it. I don't mean that I want to stay in university, I just want to do something else. I like my major, but don't know what to do with it all. Yeah yeah make some money, preferably a lot of money, but how?

So I actually started thinking about it. Writing came to mind, but...

To make millions these days, you just need an audience. It doesn't matter what you publish, you just need the crowd. You know, like YouTube. Google was only interested in the vast crowds of viewers YouTube had. So why don't we create a platform where it's possible for people to contribute to a book? We'd have like six different books 'in progress' at a time, and after we feel we have enough contributions, we'd have someone put it all together properly and publish it, both online and offline. I mean we'd have to work out the details, but after a year or so we'd be sitting on millions of viewers, which we sell for billions of dollars to Microsoft or Google or even Apple.

If you want to become filthy rich without having resources to begin with, there is always poker, work in combination with investing/saving, or crime. id say your best shot is crime. naturally if material gain is top priority there is a great chance youll end up depressed.

i like the idea of a novel but we need something other than vampires....it has been done to DEATH!!!

I think Inde has the best idea so far.
If we all did get together and write a book/novel, and advertised it virally, I think we could get a lot of attention. We could even self-publish it.
With the creative minds on here, I don't think this would be too much of a challenge.

And yes, no vampires. Or zombies. ;)
An Asimovian SF novel wouldn't be a bad idea, imo...

Sorry for the triple, but I think AK's idea of each chapter being a short-story would work best.
They would all have to be in a cohesive theme or world, imo, and selling it as "a video-game community gets together to write a compilation of stories" would hopefully lend some credibility to the medium, and show that video-game communities are not always RuneScape-esque!

We'd be doing video-games in general a good deed! ;)

A compilation of short stories would be best for a book, I agree. But, if you take this to another level and create an entire website for this and have other people write their own entries, YouTube-style... well the possibilities are endless.

Now, how to get Google to invest in us.

if you are unable to decide on what to do, then what ever you are thinking you might be interested, try to get a job that teaches you more, dont waste money your parents are spending or you are wasting with government funding/Scholarships.

you have to know what kind of worker you are. busy worker, lazy. do you like technical or mundane work.

anyways you talk about getting rich...i laugh. money it the most powerful tool in the world and what is it more than a physical object? i cant take it with me when i die. do what makes you happy, only when you are sure when youre a little wiser then make the investment on your furture but not until you are commited.

Well I think either idea would work a web page set up for short story entry's or a number of us have entry`s for a book and get it published. However I do not think that 2nd would produce much profit unless it became a popular series that had new books every couple years or it got Oprah`s book club seal :-P.
Either way I am not sure I could make this web page or get a book published, thou I know I could come up with at least a few good short story`s.
If one of these ideas pans out let me know and I will start working on it.

...you all know this will lead to nothing and you are just wasting time brainstorming.
