50K to my choice.
Must be:
1. Free
2. Able to image onto and off of USB drives.
3. Able to image a 100GB drive onto a 500GB.
4. Reliable
Must satisfy one of these two sets of requirements:
1a. Optical-drive/thumbdrive booting
1b. User-friendly
2a. Runs from within Windows
2b. Runs from a thumbdrive
Bonus 25k for automatic Vista BCD repair.
Free as in beer...
Selfimage and DriveImage XML are the two I use (both available on the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows), but I suspect they aren't friendly enough for JS. I'd use them in combination with gpartd for the above mentioned situations.
5. No UBCD4Win. I don't have a nonOEM copy of Windows.
You've had months, it's not that freaping hard to get one... feed the school IT staff or bring beer, if you tell them what it's for and don't ask for a key they've got no reason not to give it to you. Hell M$ will let you download ISO's of most OS's if you have access to even the most basic technet account.
