I have a question that has been bothering me. (in General)

Lilligant October 17 2009 12:06 AM EDT

I was just reading the Referral post...

I was just wondering, is it okay to have family members on here using the same computer? I use my Laptop and the such, what if I say asked my Fiancée and my brothers if they wanted to play on the same computer [My Laptop] Is that okay or shall I have to tell them to play on another computer?

Just needed this clarified, before I do something completely stupid.

Thanks for your time.

It would have to be different computers as they would share the same IP address.
A different computer for each person.

I thought that requirement was waived for supporters?

Probably need an admin for this question as they know the rulings better than most.

Referrals wont work with people on the same IP. Jon had somewhere "sorry for those referring co-workers". Unless you have a different internet connection for each computer in your home, it doesn't matter which computer you're on, you'll have the same IP.

Well. If your question is whether it's OKAY or not, let me explain.

The game has a very strict policy against multis. Which is they're not allowed at all. In the case of a group of people sharing IPs, it doesn't automatically mean anything. No admin will ban you for sharing an IP with someone.

However!

If you DO share an IP with another player, it is almost always best to completely avoid tranfers between each other. Especially one sided transfers (So if you must trade between each other, also pay fair price and document it).

So feel free to let others play on your computer. Just never on your account :P

(An admin can correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems to be their policy on sharing of IPs)

That is the rules as far as I know. I have even shared an IP with the either the auction house or central bank before. I forget which they told me it was. You can have your brother play on the same IP or computer just make sure you keep any transfers out in the open and fair. But try not to do any at all.

You may use the same computer.
You should not transfer ANYTHING between each other.
If people you refer have an IP in common with any IP you have used on CB within the past 6 months, you will not get referral money.

Alright, so it should be fine if I do not make any contact with them at all. Referral wasn't such a big issue for me anyway. I just wanted to show my fiancée what I'm playing half the time on my computer. I thought my brother would like it as well.

Thanks for all the input guys!
