So I placed a bid for those Noldorin Spellcasters of 950,000. Then i saw some other ones i was going to just buy from someone else so I thought maybe I can lower my bid.
I went to the bid page and bid 10,000 to try to lower the amount of cash I had removed.
It lowered the max bid to 10k just fine, but I lost 940k to the oblivion that is CB.
To clarify, you set a max of 950k, then you bid 940k. You didn't lower the max, you just bid against yourself.

Nvm I figured it out, there are 2 Noldorin spellcasters up, i put a 10k bid on the other ones.

Oh and I checked to see if I could lower the max on the ones I actually bid on, it doesn't let me. And no i wasn't trying to lower it by 10k, I was trying to lower it to 10k, that way i could get my money back.

Once you bid on an item in the auction house it's fixed. You cannot take back your bid nor can you change it.
The only way of getting out of it then is by being outbid.
It's no bug, it's intentional. If you commit to a bid you cannot back out.

From the Auctions front page:
"Items auctioned are not transferrable for the duration of the auction, and bids are deducted from the bidder's balance and held until they are outbid or the auction is over. This means it is impossible for either buyer or seller to be scammed. Within five minutes of auctions ending, winning bids are transferred to the sellers and the item to the high bidder. "
