Need help with spyware removal (in Off-topic)

Messbrutal November 16 2009 4:15 AM EST

Hi, I am under the impression that I might have gotten a malware or spyware.

When I try to access google.com for instance it always refers me to google.ca instead.

When I try to open the link from the search result it opens me a new window with other result from various other search engines.

So I would really appreciate if someone could give me a direct link to some free spyware removal program.

I get some odd result when trying to google for some myself and there are so many I don't know which one actually are efficient.

Thanks to anyone that took time to read this smallish wall of text.

This will clean your PC and fix your problems or I'll eat my socks.

Follow the instructions.

Read the page I've linked and carry out the steps as instructed, it won't be long until you're sorted. If the problem is bigger than the self help posted then get yourself into the forums and follow the process to log a request for help. It can take a day or two to get you sorted, but speaking from experience I know these guys do get there in the end.
If you don't follow the instructions (to the letter) on the link I've posted then I won't eat my socks :p

Good luck !

if you have a vista machine you may have microsoft windows defender already installed. if so, run a scan with it after making sure it is updated.

what virus software do you have?

If this is a recent change and you're sporting WinXP, you can simply use the recovery tool to back up prior to the hijacker.

I want to thanks everyone for taking time to look into this for me.

I barely woke up and need to leave for work for the night, but I will make sure to try everything out when I got time.
