VA versus GA (in General)

More VA questions...

Why am I not hitting the max 60% leech, to equal the GA damage I am taking?

Pariah rent Censor [1742]
Pariah draws strength from his weapon! [780]
Censor's Guardian Angel smote Pariah (960)

Pariah rived Censor [1884]
Pariah draws strength from his weapon! [861]
Censor's Guardian Angel smote Pariah (1053)

I've got a 4.7K VA, which is much more than the damage I'm inflicting, which should give me a 40% leech. On top of that I'm using a BoTH, which should give me the extra 20% needed to equal a maximum GA (or actually beat it, as GA is reduced by AC, which is why the GA above is hitting me for about 55%)

But i'm only hitting a total of around a 45% leech here.

Any reason why?

I double checked, and there's no DM to lower/fizzle my VA in the fight above.

down low VA isn't able to do the full 60% (Jon did it on purpose according to him)

Another reason to raise the starting XP for VA to a couple hundred thousand.

Eh.

Why did Jon do that?

And I agree, it's inital cost should really be changed, it's just so confused with itself at lower levels.

I believe it was too powerful for down low.

Actually it is because with VA more does not mean a better drain % and down low less means less drain. It gives the highest % when damage is the same or just over the VA level and when VA is much higher it tapers off so it gives about 33% drain.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 24 2009 7:48 PM EST

Eh. That's a bit wonky.

It would make VA the only ability in game that gets worse for you, the more you train it.

Nem, if VA really works like that, then it's something I hope will be changed.

(Still, there's no explaintion for it over writing the in built leech of the VA weapons.)

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] December 24 2009 7:54 PM EST

It doesn't overwrite the innate VA. It adds to the innate VA and if that is still a negative it will still drain HP. If you gain 20% but lose 30% you are still losing 10%.
