I am just curious to see if anyone has read it and what their opinion is about Robert Jordans replacement for the last book in the wheel of time.

I haven't read that one in particular, but his Mistborn trilogy was fantastic. His Elantris novel was quite good as well.

The book was fantastic, in my opinion. I've read it twice so far. The one thing you lose from Jordan's style is the elaborate, flowing descriptions of things. No more 3 pages dedicated to description. Which, in some ways is a bit sad, but he does a fine job of describing everything in fewer words. And, at this point, you should know what everything looks like anyways.

The fighting scenes are more than ample, the thinking style of the characters are similar (As in, the characters all still keep true to their internal voice. None of them have gone psycho over night).

Not to mention that the story itself is fantastic. If someone isn't reading the book because of the author change, they're missing out. Jordan's story holds true and the new style does -nothing- to weaken the power of the story.

I went out and bought it and read it as soon as it was out. It is undoubtedly a great book with many great scenes and a few climaxes that leave you amazed. Sanderson does sound a little different than Jordan at times, but overall the book is very true to Jordan and it really does seem like the book he would have wrote. The only differences I really picked out was at times the endless descriptions of clothing/etc was shorter, and also he spent a lot less time re-explaining every last thing you've already re-read the last dozen or so books. I am not so sure either of those things is a bad thing.

Sanderson is a great author, he is dedicated, and he does a great job with continuing the WoT. The only thing you won't like about reading this book is that it has to end and then you have to wait till late 2010 for the next one.

I just hope he doesn't devote all his time to the WoT series. I loved his Mistborn trilogy and so would like to see him author more series as well.

He sounds like a real multi-tasker. I know he recently did a book called Warbreaker, and has a children's series running I think. Besides, only two years for him to finish the WoT. I think I even heard somewhere he might be doing a followup to Elantris. Good times!

I really enjoyed this book (finally some closure of plot points!!!) and having read Mistborn before this I agree that his WoT work is not quite the same as Jordan, but neither is it the same as Sanderson's other writing...

I think Jordan's and his wife (I think) did an excellent job finding a replacement. I am so pumped for the next books!!!
