Hard Drive Died (in Off-topic)

Died after 3 months of moderate use, and the RMA is in process as it is under a 3 year warranty. In the meantime I am using an 80GB drive and was wondering if the freezer idea was the best to recover data and if so how long should it be in there and how much copy time can I expect?
