My direct deposit hasn't shown up on my online bank statement but from the government website the deposit has gone through. Is my bank withholding my direct deposit? I hate my bank so much.

Takes about 5 business days, doesn't it?

What did your bank say when you called them?

Haven't called the bank yet. Direct deposit doesn't take 5 days. This is the first time this has happened. I've gotten a deposit last Monday so I don't think theres something new in the bank system.

Bank of America?

USBank, so scandalous they are.

Guess what? About 5 hours ago my direct deposit mysteriously showed up and is dated for Monday when I should've gotten it. They where probably hoping I was gonna try to spend money to hit me with a overdraft fee. These people make me sick. They made a record 38.5 billion in overdraft fees in 2009 and their overdraft fees raised despite the recession. Blood sucking leaches they are.

God I hate when banks do that. Chase shows the DD as pending, so I usually charge a little bit knowing that I am safe. But every once in a while they switch around the order on me, and I get an overdraft fee.

When I call, they act like they are doing me a favor by dropping the overdraft fee.

Sigh...

if you are or were military, usaa is an awesome bank. i am not sure what their criteria is for membership but they also offer many other benefits including insurance.

i like them because i can deposit checks using a scanner!

U.S. Bank has treated me well on a checking and savings account, just to provide an alternate anecdote. They've not screwed up anything for almost eight years, including two long-distance moves covering three states, four job changes (with direct deposit), and new services (I've used their online site for years now, and their online bill-pay for a little under a year now, including moving all of my bills from St. Louis, MO to Madison, WI).

All has worked fine. At my previous job, while Bank of America had a couple of direct-deposit snafus that affected a large portion of employees, U. S. Bank has kept trundling along without issue.

Your mileage may vary, though, obviously. *smile*

Good luck with finding a new bank! Check out the smaller, local ones, but be sure to choose something large with a decent heritage, otherwise it is likely it will get gobbled up by a nationwide bank soon anyway.
