Missing the "old" days... (in General)

Last Gasp February 25 2010 11:35 PM EST

Have just been playing a bit tonight and got to thinking how much I miss, really miss the old days.

The days when "changemonth" meant something.

The days when Jonathan was actively responding to posts.

The days of new supporter items. I remember that feeling of "Damn I don't have enough money for one of those new Amulets!"

The days of being caught off balance by tweaks, upgrades, nerfs, etc,...

I like the game but don't feel thrilled by it any longer. We don't seem to have those things in the game that can flip it around and test a strategy with something NEW NEW NEW!

Any hope on the horizon of anything like this?

While I agree that the game has been slowly growing slightly stale, I think suggesting something new would have a better impact than reminiscing.

How long has it been since there was an exciting change? Or a new item?

I certainly hope so.

I've been suggesting new stuff since pretty close to day 1 of my playtime.

I've been here 4 months.

We have....

Clan Chat.

I vote reminiscing is more productive.

Understandable.

I would absolutely love a new supporter item; it's been a year.

I would love to see that defensive losses gain a tiny bit of money (I want a farm team like in CB1).

I would love to see Jon log in and play a bit, just to participate and make changes. Who knows, that might even open the doors to a rare free-retrain moment.

I would love to figure out some possible way to make it so people have to actually use and upgrade compound bows and spend months window shopping for elven gear again.

But that won't happen. Well, maybe the supporter item.

Suggestions I've made in the past...some good some not. I've learned that rarely are player suggestions actually realized. That never stopped me enjoying the changes that did occur though.

Oh, and the last exciting month was June 2008. Before that... most changemonths were interesting and others were just plain crazy fun.

Well to think about it a different way. As the game gets more balanced in the eyes of the developers there will be less and less drastic changes in the mold of strategy changes because that would unbalance the game more probably. Yes supporter items would be nice, but they have to actually provide something. Seems it would be tough to add items and keep balance. So I'm of the opinion I would love new and interesting things, but I can also see how it could be difficult to add.

In CB1, Chuck Norris got round housed!

Sox, remember that supporter items don't just created balancing items, they also provide ad revenue. We like ads.

The opposite is true.

With more items, it becomes alot easier to see which ones are overpowered, and items get more and more counters to them. You're not required to pick the one item to counter a strat, you get a choice of multiple.
