Bug? Exploit? Broken? Attn: Nightstrike (in General)

I've noticed a definite pattern in the game that I'm not sure what to think of.

If you look at my Fight log for the past 1000 fights, and look specifically at the last 100 or so, you'll see me losing to Novice / Dagobah, pretty much every time. Then you'll notice that I start beating him, pretty much every time. What's the difference? Something sinister...

I don't know anything about how the code is written, but I have discovered a way to beat novice almost 100% of the time. When in reality the fight isn't even close to that.

How do I do it?

I inspect him first.

I've found that if I inspect Dagobah and click fight from the inspect page. I win.

Then, like clockwork, If I fight him from my Favorite opponents list. I lose. (you'll see this in my Fight Log as me fighting him twice in a row).

To prove my theory I maintained about a ~50% winrate against him today, (having to hit him twice to win in the 2ed fight) and only winning one out of 6 challenges without a double tap.

Then you'll notice where I only fight him and Iconic (ns' character) and you'll notice that I win win win win win, then lose. The lose being me going back to my favorites list. (no equipment was changed or anything)

I don't know what exactly is causing this, but I think it should be investigated as it's pretty obvious to me something is wrong.

This reminded me of when Novice was talking about how he can fight and win the first fight, and then seems to lose after that... My guess being that the first fight was from the inspect page? The rest being from the fight list? Also, I believe this has something to do with the exbows CTH, due to the fact Novice's exbow has +106 after the DBs I'm using, he has a dex advantage, and every time I win, is quite literally as binary as saying novices' exbow missed.

I hope this can be looked into, as I'm way too lazy to fight him consistently from the inspect page :D

Thanks Jir for figuring out what I couldn't...

I knew something was bugged, but never thought to pay attention to WHERE I was fighting from

This explains why the first time you fight someone you win too, b/c it's after you're inspecting them. Good call Jir.

I've gone back and forth being able to beat Fuse at high rates, eventually taking him off my fight list for being so unstable. I just inspected three times and fought, winning all three. I fought him regularly once and lost. It's not enough to prove anything, but I like the thought that it works.

Demigod March 15 2010 5:50 PM EDT

Bah, doesn't work. I just tried three more times from "inspect" and lost three.

Beating him is still looking like 50/50.

The only thing I can think of, is that fighting someone from your favorites list may make the enemy attack first, vs. attacking from the inspect page, allowing you to attack first. Indeed this is not supposed to happen, but your losses to novice seem to be a difference of 1 round, so this could be the case.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] March 15 2010 10:09 PM EDT

Nope, you definitely attack first even uses favs list, I can attest to that with the elbow.

It must be an even tricker bug than you think if this is the case.

I picked 3 random people that farm me 100%, inspected them and fought.

Loss, Loss, Loss.

Wraithlin March 15 2010 11:18 PM EDT

More data:

I picked someone who only has 87% against me.

fought him 4 times from inspect page

Win, Loss, Win, Win.

That third win was not a double tap, I had 75% first fight wins when he was farming me 87%.

It was against FUSE if it helps debugging purposes.

I believe it only "works" when it effects the PTh of particular ranged weapons

{Wookie}-Jir.Vr- March 16 2010 12:27 AM EDT

The fact remains, something is going on.

Have you found what the different between the fightlogs is? I can't find a stable target to test against.

Cube March 16 2010 12:39 AM EDT

Anyone that can post fight logs of this?
As well the strategy of the character you beat and your character?

It could be something really simple.

Wraithlin March 16 2010 10:45 AM EDT

I'll post some logs after the bonus XP ends.
