CB bores me (in General)

sebidach [The Forgehood] March 16 2010 10:27 AM EDT

It's all about hitting enter now. In the lower levels I could check for new opponents and was happy when I could start farming someone who was farming me. Now there aren't any new opponents in sight, at least not in 6-point-clans. To change my strat I would need money - which translates to a boring enter-hitting fest for weeks to come. And boredom results in a drop in MPR growth.

Tournaments could be a solution (if the current one ever finishes..).

What else could I do?

QBJohnnywas March 16 2010 10:29 AM EDT

Its about building your char now until your char is big enough to take on the upper levels. Then there's some strategy and finding opponents. Then holding your ground.

I'm afraid to say, if you're bored with fighting then you need a tourney. Because it is all about hitting enter after a certain point...

" at least not in 6-point-clans. "

Try not being quite so selective with targets?

You could explore other avenues of the game, like commerce (via auctions/rentals).

Or "forging"..... *ahem*........

Be a hitman
Start a loan business
Start a rentals business
Merchant

Many things you can do.

Forging isn't really viable right now. While forging, you don't get the drops that you get while fighting, you have to leave a standard clan for an econ clan (which means you may not get back in), and he would just get punished in terms of PR, while his opponents get more MPR.

Honestly, I would bet he would lose more people from his list than he would add.

His best bet would simply be to buy a bigger character and skip the drudgery of the lower levels (note, I don't know what his mpr is right now).

He has a NUB, so he shouldn't buy a character until his NUB is over.

What drops?

>;)

Forging just got 20% better! :P (That's it NS, the spin for the random Drop system. Reducing cash rewards by 20% for fighting just made Forging more attractive! ;) )

AdminNightStrike March 16 2010 9:48 PM EDT

Hmm.. Yeah, you may be on to something, as I don't believe anything changed regarding NW added to items when forging. So you see, we *DO* support forgers!

Miandrital March 16 2010 10:35 PM EDT

Haha, touche

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] March 17 2010 12:43 AM EDT

It's not like that 20% drop made people use the forgers more often, nor did it give forgers the option to up the rate to 90%. So no, it didn't help us... Nice try.
Drops? What drops? We forgers don't know anything of these drops... Unless you mean that thing when we drop your item into the water to quench? No? Oh...

Awwww, GL, your user pic is way too adorable. <3

And I often find myself getting bored with CB (mainly because I won't take the time to actually work at learning the battle system--yay laziness?)

Tournaments, Forging, and the community always bring me back. But mostly it's the community that bring me back. I love these guys!

I suggest spending time in chat and building friendships. It always made the game more fun for me. ^_^

Unfortunately, that means spending hours around me.

CB is to support forgers as to republicans is to support healthcare

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] March 17 2010 10:14 AM EDT

for me and my ncb runs, it does get pretty stale around 2m mpr to 3 or so. hang in there!

i have been playing over 7 years now and what keeps me going is setting small goals to reach. my next one is my tat rolling over to 10m, which should happen next week. then i will find me another mini goal to start watching. it tends to break up the monotony for me and turn cb into mini games.

that is the main reason i have championed the idea of a congrats bot that makes threads for several different mini-goals in the game, it might help others to stick around and feel that they are actually getting somewhere when times get stale.

It's less about hitting enter, and more aobut no longer having any immediate goals.

Every game is repition, from grinding in RPGs to just hitting auto-battle in FFXIII. Over and over again.

But there are short term, immediate goal to aim for, that keep you drawn and coming back.

We could do with something like that in CB.
