Thanks to the site vgcats.com i jsut found a fun game to play thats still in testing/dev

http://minecraft.net/survivaltest/

i havents gotten far but every level is randomly generated in some what 3d, you get to fight zombies in an ever changing landscape that differs from day to night, its worth a try. plays right in your browser too

WARNING:
You may also want to note that it completely takes over your browser when you launch the game, you cannot get out or otherwise escape the program window unless you quit your browser altogether. There's no control page to find out how to do anything in the game, and the screen takes over all of your tabs. Of course maybe it's just me and my iBook. But just as a warning to other mac users, click the link at your own risk. And if you have other tabs/pages open, expect to have to start over.

Is that right? I havent had that problem using Windows.

From what ive tried there is no point to the game, than a few modes, like survival, and joining a server to build with others, ive seen some interesting displays, its all PG and well monitored. the multiplayer is just a place to build and smash things. and the levels are HUGE.

Like I said, probably just a mac thing . . . lol, usually is.

Haven't had any problems with linux either. Interesting game, though I don't know what to do with it. ;)

"The game broke!"

Seemed fun though. I jumped off the highest point I could get to and that crashed the game. What's with the building by the way?

"The Game Broke"

I got that as well. I got attacked by another player and killed the game. I won't be going back to it.

You don't "broke the game" you die. Should we get our own server?

From what I figured out in the 5-10 minutes I messed around with it, I found out you use the left mouse button to attack with whatever material you are equipped with. There are 9 materials... dirt, seed, rock, wood, red flower, yellow flower, sheep wool, tree leaves and dynamite.

You can attack the ground to "dig" and pick up these various materials.

You right click to use whatever material you are equipped with. The seed seems to restore your health, the dynamite gets laid down but I couldn't figure out how to detonate it, and you can lay rock/dirt down as well and build your own constructions. None of the others seemed to do anything.

Sheep seem to be friendly, although you can still attack and kill them. I also found spiders, zombies, and some strange humanoids who fire arrows at you.

And yes, if you lose all your health the game crashes.

Anybody else find anything interesting?

They have a wiki linked on the home page.

well there are these gumby looking creatures with no arms and when they die they blow up, i like that the levels are huge you can swim in water, tunnel your way through anything.

Now if you try multiplayer you should see some of the things people have time to make. i mean there is soo much copyrighted stuff in there its insane, people are making huge messed up cities with space ships and giant marios and pikachus.

And for multiplayer i found that water is used as a form of elevator.

and if you need info on what you can do check the options. for windows, TAB key fires arrows, which zombies drop btw, left click is to smash, right click is to use what ever is in your smashing hand, and use the mouse wheel or the 1-9 keys to select your material.

if you hit R it reloads your last save point, by default its where you spawn unless you change it by hitting ENTER

to chat hit T

Im hoping this game gets better and they devs do know about the unstable nature of the survival testing phase. i personally am hoping for a siege type game to come from this where you build your defences and try to survive zombie attacks.

Sorry for the double post, but I've been messing around with this a bit more and found out some more stuff. This is actually quite an intriguing little game if you explore a bit.

Turns out there are more than 9 materials, you can only hold 9 at a time. I also found sand and some steel-like material (takes longest to dig through so far). I also met a four-legged creature, possibly a bear or something. It's also friendly and will run away if you hit it.

I also found out you can press Esc to pause/bring up menu. This has the option to start over and customize options such as sound, music, and controls.

Coolest thing I've found so far is, if you dig deep enough into the ground, after going through several layers of dirt and rock, you'll reach water. Here there's pretty much a whole other open underwater world to explore, like a giant cave. You can swim in the water, just hold spacebar to swim upwards. You only have a limited amount of time though before your health starts depleting (quite rapidly in fact).

For survival make castle walls and dig down. Found a gold cashe, 23 mushrooms, two pigs, and one sheep in a cave well below the surface.

I dug really deep and found a huge amount of gold, but when I dug deeper, hoping to find a cave, I found lava and died! This game is very interesting ^.^
