Wouldn't it be sensible to put a transaction fee system in place of the current listing based system. In addition you could make the listing periods more flexible and allow users to add items from item drop down menu and add the ability to remove them when they are not rented out.
This would allow folks to list items that might be more rarely rented, but which would be useful for newer players. In turn providing a mild boost to the CB item economy, and increasing testing capability for new users.

It would be nice if you could just click on an item to send it to the rentals, add a price per day and just leave it there.
Then a user can just browse all items in the rentals and price per day, decide how many days they want it for and hit rent.
Whenever you want your item back from rentals you just click a "return after rental period" and after the current rental ends it comes back to you or immediatly if it's not being rented.
Possibly when you put it up for rent, you put a maximum rent period on it, anywhere from 1 day at a time to 6 months at a time for instance.
