Drop tweak (in Changelog)

AdminNightStrike April 8 2010 7:35 PM EDT

So there was indeed a loophole for getting a drop while fighting a comatose opponent. This is now closed. Thanks to Nem for pointing me in the right direction.

Cool.

Nem's ability to telepathically read TCL code is scary

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] April 8 2010 7:41 PM EDT

Was there also a loop hole that is causing tons of drops? Or has the drop rate just not been dropped again yet?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 8 2010 8:18 PM EDT

while it is great that this is fixed, it is frustrating for the community when we know there are buggy parts of the game and cannot get anyone to listen to us regarding them.

another example is the buggy clan point system. jon has stated how it is supposed to work and i have made multiple posts showing that it doesn't actually work that way to no avail.

thanks for looking at it though and maybe the trick is getting nem involved?

AdminNightStrike April 8 2010 9:35 PM EDT

Come on, dude, be reasonable. I looked at it each and every time people brought it up. Give me a break already.

i asked a few weeks ago how to go about bug reporting since my clan bug posts got no response. i got an explanation as to why the known issues in the wiki didn't work, but as of yet have received no right way of doing it.

i am asking as reasonably as i can, what is the best way of reporting bugs so that we can get them fixed/addressed or explained away?

AdminNightStrike April 8 2010 10:02 PM EDT

Well, in this case, Nem went the extra mile to fight a comatose party a couple hundred times in a row until it triggered a drop, and then tell me soon after. This provided enough data in the logs to find the real bug, which was deeply hidden. Previously, everytime someone reported the issue, and I was around to trace it through, the drop was triggered from an actual fight.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 8 2010 10:15 PM EDT

i can see that and understand how that was crucial in a vague situation. sadly the bug i am using as an example is much more clear cut if what jon stated was correct. what is the proper way to report that and get it looked into?

in effect jon stated: "Only clans with someone having net positive score in the given interval are shown."

however if you look at 24 hour stats, which is what clan bonus uses, as well as weekly stats, there are multiple clans (usually showing -2) where no clan members have positive scores in the given interval and the only activity is negative scores.

AdminNightStrike April 8 2010 10:41 PM EDT

What bug are you referring to?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 8 2010 10:47 PM EDT

i had thought at first it was a bug where clans were being dropped from the list erroneously and my original post was addressing that.

after jon stated what he did though, i realized that the real problem is that many clans are showing active and affecting how many clans get a bonus that shouldn't be in the list at all. at some times, it shows correctly though, usually mid-week but not every week, and then there are much fewer active clans as jon stated it should work. they then slowly add back to the list with no fights changing in their history.

jon stated only clans with at least one member with a positive net score for the interval show as active. right now there are at least a couple of pages of clans though with no member having a positive net score for 24 hours which is the interval used to determine active clans for the bonus amount.

AdminNightStrike April 8 2010 10:53 PM EDT

On what page?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 8 2010 10:54 PM EDT

clans>view standard>page 3. pretty much none of those on that page have any members with positive net score.

AdminNightStrike April 8 2010 10:59 PM EDT

Ok, so this is way off topic.. do you have another thread we can post in?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 8 2010 11:04 PM EDT

the most recent one was december 21st and of course is closed now, i will start a new one!

TheHatchetman April 8 2010 11:07 PM EDT

anybody with a score, beit positive or negative is deemed active by the system. I was frustrated that even clans with negative points were getting a bonus when at one point, I had knocked all but a couple dozen clans into the negatives. More clans having bonus takes away the joy of being #1 or top 5. When 280 clans are deemd "active, 70 of them get a bonus, which means the difference between #1 and #10 is only 2%. Slumpy's singleton clan Varengaar is earning 82% of the bonus The Knighthood is, even though one is in 14th, and the other is in 1st place with about 6 times the contributed points.

But, especially with clans being the way they are now, I'm way too biased to have an opinion on the matter :P

oops, was typing my reply when you guys decided to move the convo. My bad!
