Score, the low game, and disposable teams (again) (in General)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 21 2010 3:53 AM EDT

OK, more observations from my latest NCB run.

(I'll caveat to start, that this problem is lessened by T characters no longer being part of the problem, but the problem still exists)

I'm fighting up, as best I can. I'm farming/grinding the targets I can beat, until I'm big enough to move on to new, larger targets.

But what's happeneing is as I'm fighting up, my lower score is reducing my targets score as i'm beating them.

These inactive teams don't fight, and don't regain score in any way.

What this means is that if I restart, or for players following me (eithe rnew players or new Bonus runs), these targets will have lowers scores, and provide lower rewards, for less time, than I had.

This mean it will continue to get harder and harder to grow, as the targets that do exist will start to provide less rewards, for less time.

We need some way of restoring Score to these targets, or removing the necessity of retiring teams before starting new ones (for BA regen and costs) to keep the ranks full or 'full score' targets.

The decay has been lessened by the change to Tournament scores, but it still remains.

Hopefully there is an unannounced planned fix for this. ;)

We could have a state of active retirement introduced where you may choose to allow other players to fight against your character with heavily reduced score decay.
These characters would not gain experience through defensive wins, would be counted as retired i.e. you can't fight with them and you have to pay to unretire and does not affect your current BA regen and cost.
Also, if at any time their win % decreases by 1/5 of their percentage before retirement, they will be fully retired automatically to prevent making endless amounts of high end farm characters.
These characters would also take up character slots and can not participate in transfers.

Apart from some tourney play I haven't even considered an NCB for over a year now simply because of this. That's a first for me, I've never played one char for as long as this since I first signed up on CB1 back in 2004..

And while the auto retire has helped a bit, I've still got to face fightlists of;

Score 790,409
Power 1,327,583
MPR 1,306,717

Am I *really* to be expected to fight up (My PR is nearing my score and is nearly 600K) and try to beat opponents twice my size, for a score zone that's only slightly higher than I am currently?

quite a few of us have proposed that, below a certain pr, score should trend slowly towards pr. it shouldn't happen too quickly as that would be exploitable but if it happened over a months time most n*b's would have moved on and it is self-repairing for the next ones in the queue.

If this can be aknowledged as a problem, I'll patiently await a fix. ;)

I'm just worried it might be, missed, under the T Score fix.

I agree, this is how it should be. The key will be to find the rate that works best without being too exploitable.

i think you would have to make it tiered and have it happen once a week or so. something like:

if score is less than 10 percent of pr, score * 2, (if score is between 50 percent and 10 percent of pr, score * 1.5, ((if score is between 75 percent and 50 percent of pr, score *1.1, otherwise score is unchanged))

i think that is right, basically the further away score is from pr then the more it is increased that week. if people are continually draining a score it will double each week at least. however once left alone it would slowly build back up to pr but would take a few weeks to do so.

My current largest target had a score this morning of over 800K.

It's now;

732,824

And it won't recover.

It will be lower by the time I drop him from my fightlist.
