Investment strategy (in General)

As money comes in, where should it go first, if anywhere? Do any items offer a particularly high effectiveness to MPR increase ratio?
(Currently running E:F with about 1/3HP, 1/2 DM and 1/6 FB plus a Fire Familiar)

Thanks

i would pick up an aoj first since that will make all other items effects junction over to your familiar.

being a single minion mage you are going to be quite limited. hoc, spellboosters, aoj and either alatar's or noldorin's. as for what to bump up first, i would likely just invest in whatever is cheapest to upgrade and move on to the next cheapest.

when the expense becomes limiting on upgrading items, try to insta up your fire familiar.

First off, you should buy an AoJ, and an HoC if that's not yours that you have on already.

Demigod June 7 2010 11:07 PM EDT

This is the third yes to an AoJ ASAP. Even that HoC will junction over, meaning your familiar gets an extra round to kick booty.

Yeah, the HoC is a rental. So AoJ first, get off rentals afterward? Also (tangent) is it worth continuing to level that FB or would reallocating to, say, AS be superior?

equal parts hp, fb and dm is probably the easiest. i am not sure if that is still the best ratio but it won't mess ya up much.

i would stay away from ablative shield as there is just too many teams with dispel magic out there.

Ablative shield on a single minion with a familiar would be a waste, just train HP. If you take away your FB and leave your familiar as the only source of damage output you would be severely limiting yourself in most situations.

Unless you used the AoJ with say a halidon familiar, i think thats in the Wiki, you should look it up.

Unless you're training it to prepare for hiring three more minions, but DM is prevalent.

Yeah thats what i did at the start. FB mage with a fire familiar and an AS enchanter all the way to 100k MPR, then added a wall and switched to a ToA archer and added DM.

Womp June 7 2010 11:37 PM EDT

I'm not preparing to hire any more minions necessarily, but that does bring up another thing I'm unclear on. Just how helpful later on is it to have done your early-mid leveling solo? Zenai brought up the option of adding a PL battery- thoughts?

--JDM-- June 7 2010 11:42 PM EDT

That's roughly the same thing i did, except i use a ToA minion instead of a familiar. The longer you wait the more expensive its gonna be to hire that extra minion, but with a mage setup you should be able to save quite a bit of cash anyway.

Demigod June 7 2010 11:47 PM EDT

Hiring minions is the only way to "buy" MPR. If you know you want a three or four minion team, then it's beneficial to delay hiring, but it's also quite expensive if you wait too long. At my level (and I am planning on hiring another), the cheap option is about 19 mil, and the expensive option is 40+ mil. For right now, just focus on what type of team you want and work around that.

I'm not hiring to buy MPR, I'm hiring to correct poor judgment early on.

Well, I think I'm going to go with +1 minion fairly soon and see what things look like from there, since it seems like I'm going to want at least 2 if not more simply for the options and utility down the road.

Unless you're adding a good amount of DM(enough to nuke GA teams, which you probably aren't) I would stay away from PL walls, as your team will get murdered by GA.
