The cult of Facebook (in Off-topic)

A so-called friend just created a Facebook account for me as a B-day gift.
I managed to dodge it for this long, but I'll give it a fair chance.

I pretty much never post on mine, keep a small group of close friends and family (less than 20) that I actually care about, and track them in TweetDeck. Don't be afraid to ignore friend requests from acquaintances or non-immediate family, you'll stop following it because you'll be flooded with crap you don't care about. (=
FB finally has some real privacy options... don't forget to use em!

I'm not worried about getting burnt out on FB. I really don't expect that to be a problem. I ignored it this long, so I'm okay with walking away. ;)
And I clicked on the privacy button and knocked all of the items to "Friends" or "Friends of friends."

Also, don't click the Facebook "Like" buttons that are on other sites, it basically gives them the ability to push crap to you indefinitely.
Friendly advice: keep away from FB when you're drunk.
