Best way to use an AoL? (in General)

The AoL is in a stick place.

You want to use it to buff your Tank, or Mage. And it needs to be up front.

So how do you use it?

You can't hide it with Invisibility, unlike the Boots, so the AoL wearer wil be the first target hit, by Physical, RoBF, SG and Decay damage.

You don't want to make your Tank the front minion (if you have one) to dodge the Physical hits, as then they're not getting any benefit from the Amulet itself.

You could make them a Wall, but have to forgo the AoAC.

Of course, this minion would have to be backed by PL, as you need them to live, unlike a throwaway front Enchanter/Meatshield.

But if they don't have DX and Evasion, then you're opening yourself up to take massive damage from the SoD. Unless you're also using the obligatory EXBow yourself.

So how do you get the most out of this Amulet?

huge AS

Doesn't necessarily have to be the 1st minion. Could have it on the third minion with your damage dealer being the 4th.

Then it would only work after the first two minions are dead... I suppose in a specific situation it might be useful, but that's hardly a way to get the most out of it.

If you rely on a huge AS, doesn't that leave you open to taking more damage overall?

Or is it worth making a wall without AoAC and CML? Probably have to train Evasion over the lack of DBs.

I plan on the following:

1st minion: DM mage with BoF and AoL
2nd Minion: pathetic 'mount' minion with BoF, AoJ and a familiar
3rd Minion: main archer damage dealer

That way I have three levels deep of leadership, with the most vulnerable and most powerful leadership on the first minion. Half or more teams do not even try to kill the first minion until 4 rounds have elapsed.

Unfortunately I just bought a new minion to implement this plan and have yet to forge the necessary equipment (dang that was an expensive minion). Until then #1 and #2 are swapped.

The main gripe I have with the plan is the waste of PR. Costly redundancy costs. For now the new minion can suck up the PR bonuses pretty well, but as it grows the costly redundancy will cost more :(

Still, the amulet is only good as long as the first minion lives and there is no way around this. Forget even thinking about using an AoL if your main damage dealer is a late bloomer or a long term hitter like MM. Seems to be only suited to archer and FB builds - though with FB damage so utterly pathetic that leaves only the archers.
