I want to play. Sounds like fun!
Go pick up a d20 set and see if you can grab a players hand book. I played tons back when it just turned to 3.0. I'm not so sure what version its up to these days.
The best thing about it is you can play any way you want. No right or wrong way to play, as long as you follow whatever rules your DM sets out for you.
d'oh...
a d20 set is a set of dice ranging from 4 sided die to a 20 sided die. They are used for damage calculations and finding out if you 'pass' or 'fail' at something.
For example, say you wanted to swim across a calm lake while wearing your armor. That would be pretty difficult, so it would have a high DC (difficulty class). The DM would likely make that a DC 18, which means you would need to roll a 18, 19 , or 20 on your D20.
um you forgot the swim skill...
Not so much forgot as it would be a lot to explain.
Like race bonuses, skill bonuses, dex bonuses and all that jazz. Start with the basics :)
