What do you need?

Hey. So I've had Blender installed on my computer for awhile it's a free open source 3D animation suite.

And just yesterday I devoted some time to really trying to figure things out. After about maybe 2-3 hours I have what I think is a decent looking head all things considered, its not amazing but something I'd like to work with a little bit more.

I guess first of all where do I want to go from here? Should I continue working on the head? Or should I start building a body for it? And don't even get me started about the background I want to put it in.

To be honest it's not so much I'm having trouble with the program as it is, it's just a really overwhelming project because everything has to be build from scratch. Everything from the building all the models, the rendering, color, texturing, and finally sounds.

For someone new in this type of area it's very overwhelming..

My end goal is to be able to build short 2-5 minute video's by myself, that look fairly decent.

It is all very overwhelming. I use 3ds Max, you must start from scratch there as well. I've personally never used Blender, so can't help you there. I would do the body seperate, that way you can keep the same head for each different body. When you do the head, leave the neck open on the bottom, you can then import that into or the body into your new project and join/connect vertices along the neckline, as long as they have the same number of vertices along that line/edge.
