Laptop + Expresscard Help (in Off-topic)

I recently purchased another USB port for my express card in my Sony Vaio (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045BLP1S/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_3?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0046Y3INC&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1TW8B88RFXTGR3A84V0G) and after getting updated drivers from the site a reviewer mentioned I plugged it in and it worked great. However after turning my laptop off and then turning it back on it wouldn't enter the BIOS and therefore wouldn't boot. Since the expresscard was the only thing I had changed I popped it out and restarted and it booted fine.

So essentially my problem is that with this expresscard adapter inserted my computer will not enter the BIOS. I Googled around but I didn't find anything of help. Any ideas here?

Even if your boot order is wrong and it's attempting to boot from USB first, that should occur after BIOS. Too much electrical draw shouldn't happen until after BIOS as well. Check the boot order to be safe, but that shouldn't be the problem...

I have it set to boot from my internal drive first so I don't think it is that. I don't think my BIOS even gets a chance to activate. The usual VAIO letters don't come up and the fans will run full speed.

Not likely the culprit, but try disabling USB legacy mode...

what demi said!

Sadly I do not have that option in my BIOS. Sony appears to have locked almost every option out.

look for a bios upgrade

I'm not having much luck finding the BIOS though I did find a number of drivers and such for my specific model here http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VPCF13XFX

BIOS should be F2, F1, or DEL during boot-up. F2 is probably the winner.

Yea I can get into the BIOS fine (F2) I just don't have the option to enable or disable legacy USB.
