I usually put mine to sleep at night.

I shut down my desktop every night, but I just close my lappie without a proper shutdown.

Do you shut down your PC at night?
Yes.

It saves electricity, and my money.

AdminTal Destra June 2 2011 12:01 AM EDT

my uptime today is 2 days and 2 hours...

usually its about 35 days in between each restart

Yeah, I usually turn it off only when I go out of town, and occasionally if it asks for a reboot after a Windows patch just as I am about to go to sleep, but other than that, always on.

I typically sleep my desktop most nights, power off usually twice a week. It's fairly beefy and starts fast, I should turn it off more often.

My laptop sometimes stays on all night, or I sleep it. I avoid turning the it off because getting it back to a ready desktop takes for...ev...er.... (it's a work laptop so I can only complain so much). It usually doesn't get much use other than light browsing. Currently it hasn't been powered down since April 6th. (=

I used to leave my laptop on at night, until the PSU connection went dodgy. Sparks and flames. Luckily that happened while I was sat next to it and not while I was asleep. Shutdown at night now, and switched off at the wall.

Quyen June 2 2011 8:21 AM EDT

wth O.o 19 days long on is sick, and its not good for the computer..

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] June 2 2011 8:37 AM EDT

i have had more computers fail from worn out power buttons in my 19 years of computing than by other parts wearing out!

i do backups for six other computers on the property at night as well as acting as a print server for other computers. i also buy a little better machines knowing they will serve these functions. ; )

I shut my machine on and off several times a day.
